what horsepower gain does one see going from non/adj to adj wastegate?

I want to see if someguys here can tell me how much power would be gained and how much time would be knocked off 1/4 mile times and mph gain at the track in general by going from a non-adjustable stock waste gate actuator with a reds93 chip and 94sunoco fuel and the basic mods i have written below to just removing the stock non-adjustable wastegate actuator and then installing an adjustable wastegate actuator and still use the same mods as i used before with the non-adjustable.?just curious if anyone has ever tested that swap.thanks :)

No gain unless boost is increased.

Boost may only be increased if no detonation is present.



ok then,how much horsepower is gained for ever pound of boost after stock boost is exceeded,or in the 1/4 mile with pump gas and no detnation aboard for every pound after say 15 what will 1 pound gain you in the 1/4 mile?give me an idea of what i'm trying to figure out please
you can make your non-adj. to adjust using about $2.00 in parts from almost any hardware store. go here:

you will not gain much using pump gas only. 15 - 17 lbs. of boost is the max. (normally there is much detonation at this level) you want to try on pump gas. your biggest gain will be adjusting your boost up and using ONLY race gas or use pump and alchy...making sure you tune for NO detonation. yup

it was once an old wives tale that for every 1 lb. increase in boost you gain 10hp...but it does not apply to every car/combination. :( nono

i prefer to tune using 'seat of the pants' and a scanmaster...or go to test and tune and see how much you gain. headbang powersix

I have an adj.one i just need to install my boost gauge,fp guage,knock gauge and accufab adj.fpr before i go to addding it.My friend was to help install them all today but could'nt so,i guess i'm on my own now. :rolleyes:

how many pounds safe boost can you run with just 94octane and a chip for pump gas only?
Also if i put race fuel in it at the track and raise boost i'll need a race chip,correct?

don't EVER count on someone's opinion, trust the ScanBastard...it works! however, when i have 94 in my car i think i get about 0.7 knock in 3rd gear at WOT and 17lbs., 1st and 2nd i think it hits about 2.0 - 3.0 due to the chip which is a Reds 94 chip for 50lb. injectors. in first gear i think my eyes saw it hit 21 lbs. once and 5.0 - 6.0, i then backed out of it not wanting to change H/G's. :D headbang

That scares me about my GN. I can get 20 lbs on 93 octane, with no knock retard on the scan master, not showing any knock on the knock gauge, and I don't hear any ping, or knock. I do have 009's and a 49 turbo, and walbro fp and hot wire, and the rjc power plate. I also am running 20 degrees of timing. I thought I'd get some knock???? Only time I see knock is shifting from park to reverse, and the drivetrain clunks a little, or when I get on it around a right hand turn? Make any sense??? I guess I shouldn't "knock it" (Sorry about the pun) Car runs great, other than a little puff of smoke ( I think it's fuel) upon start up.
getting over 17 lbs of boost on 93 octane is VERY rare and difficult...hell i can't even get 15 lbs of boost on 93 without a little knock...that's why i got an alky kit because today's gas just plain sucks...now i run 25 lbs of boost on a te-44 turbo on 93 and 100% denatured alky usa

It's just good reading knowledge for me to see what other guys are running on the street.Atleast it gives me some understanding of these cars. :)
NORMALY i can run 16-17psi of boost with about .08* of knock on 93. at the track i run my street chip with 100 in the tank and i'll normaly crank it up to about 19 20 psi. i'll get about 3* of kr on top of 3rd
