I have someone sending me a used 214/218 sig erson cam. The price was right, and I couldn't resist

I would like to learn more about this cam and what I could expect if I put it into a 4.1 production motor (not stage).

Too big of a cam? Too small?
I will run stock unported 4.1 heads.
Will probably run a TA-49 or 62 turbo.

Want to idle at 800rpm. No lumps please.
Want to shift at 5200 for max power.
Don't want to spend over $200 for a cam. No rollers please.

Does such a cam exist?

Thanks for any info..

I think that cam would work well. I have a Comp 218/218 (268H) and I can just start noticing a lope (I like it). Your 256" (I think you said 4.00" bore) will hide it some, and if you're using the MaxEffort you can dial the lope down a little by using a richer idle.
I ran an Erson 208 for a long time, sounded just like the stock cam. The cam you have was sold by Ken D. (hence the KD), so it has to be somewhat decent!
If I were to pick a new cam with your requirements, I would probably go with a Comp 212/212 (260H). They're about $125 from Racesearch.com.

Hmmm, that sounds like a good idea. Now where's that credit card...

I'm ashamed to say I've only been able to muster a 12.25 @ 112mph (2.0 60', 19psi) on Nittos. I have severe traction probs, and I guess I've been too dumb to buy slicks. This is a new combo for me, and I'm still learning how it wants to be tuned. I've since changed my stock intercooler to a V2, but I'm still running a stock cast exhaust elbow. Terry Houston comes next (actually, some ET Streets are coming next, no wait, maybe a PT72 and some 83# injectors).
Anyway, talk to you later.

Eric
