My turbo was freshly rebuilt and in less than 1 month's time the compressor wheel was chewed all up. There is no shaft play and the exhaust wheel is fine. The wheels still spin but the compressor wheel looks like it smushed itself up on the back of the inlet. This is a TE44. Thanks.

Sounds like the center section is lunched. Two kinds of play on shaft..up & down and in & out. In & out is worst and will result in just what you're talking about. Do not try to use this turbo again. Suggest you sent to John Craig for a looksee. You do not want that turbo sending aluminum through your motor.

Tanks Jack. Are you saying don't use the turbo again at all or not to try to use it before John Craig repairs it? I have taken it off of the car and I'll ship it tomorrow but if its not a good idea to use it at all then I won't bother. Tanks again. usa

don't use it!

Check the maf and see if something came loose from the maf and went into the blade.
