Uh..GNX Dash help???

Hi
I have acquired a used GNX (VDO Guages)dash (SES and appropriate lights on the left side)and I am in the process of hooking it up.
1. From the harness on the back, to the left, right behind the back of the oil pressure guage, there are 2 pairs of wires that are twisted together and have female quick connects that are colored as follows..
2- white with maroon stripe
2- White with blue stripe
Then there is another wire that is white with silver stripe.
Where do these wires go?
2. The dash came with a short speedo cable, then a strange T that has a red and black wire coming off it. Where do these wires go?
3. A small screw in temperature sender?? Where does this go?
4. A large oil pressure?? sending unit with a black cap at the end. Does the black cap hold something? Is this supposed to screw in by the oil filter adapter on the block?
Any help would be appreciated!!
Thanks,
Jim

OK...
I have it figured out for the most part. I am still stuck with the PAIRS of wires that are routed as follows
1. White with blue stripe goes to FASTEN BELTS
light
2. White with maroon stripe goes to SERVICE ENGINE light.
3. Then I have a silver with white stripe wire that comes from the tachometer...Does this go to the paired wires at the back of the alternator??

Any help with these would be appreciated!!
Thanks,
Jim
the paired wires are the tach test connection..or you can tap into the harness at the module plug...tach is white wire on E

And two more things,
I have the sending units for oil pressure and water temperature. I was going to wire from the sending unit to the back of the gauge. Where does it hook up at the back of the gauge?
Thanks
Jim
Thanks Steve!!
seat belts should be yel/black at terminal 6 on the connector that went to the pc for the instrument cluster. Other wire to ground which should be a black wire at terminal 8,

The two gauges should have two wires for the lite and one or two wires for signal and ground????

SES lite looks like it went to gauges fuse on a pink/black and to the ecm on a brown/white that ended up at A5 on C2 at the ecm. brown/white aslo split and went to aldl connector terminal D

Thanks again Steve!!
From the VDO schematic, the senders have an intergral ground ...i.e.: the probe itself goes to ground. On the back of the gauges, the "S" terminal, which I believe is the "Signal" for the gauges(volt, oil press), is intergrated through the "custom CLUSTER HARNESS" and goes to the pinouts of the CLUSTER HARNESS, which I believe plugs into where the factory cluster plugs in. My question is, what is the link from the CLUSTER HARNESS to the sending units of both gauges?? dunno dunno
Thanks,
Jim
no help there...I guess I would take a meter and trace it out. :)

I have some ambiguity with this because I dont follow you on the pc?? part dunno Could you elaborate??

I follow ok until the white w/ brown stripe. what do you mean when you say they "Split" to one location at the ALDL connector..I am making it more complicated then it is, but I don't follow two seperate wires converging into a singular pinout on the aldl??
Thanks,
Jim

I follow the pinout on the cluster harness, but I am sure I dont plug it in with two sending units left out??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two brown/white wires leave the SES. One goes to the ecm as above and the other goes to aldl.

Diagram shows divergence at the lite itself. This on the factory arrangement, of course.

on the senders, there should be a single wire from the sender that ends up on S on the gauges. As you said, ground is by sender case to block. Gauges must have a ground somewhere as well...probably off the case to a ground wire in the harness. Without looking at it, I cannot do any better. :)
