how well would a hybrid turbo such as the t3/t04e work on my 87? is it a significant step up or not?

Much better options these days...I guess that was the start of the turbomania options.

The Irrelevant Kid knows these things better than me but it seems the early ones had a larger a/r and were dogs off the line but came on top end.
