I want to install a 4-wire lighted rear view mirror from a Roadmaster and need to identify the three wires that run back from the center beam to the rear interior lights.

Orange, Purple and White.

The RM mirror has 3 Black and 1 Black w/White stripe.

Connection help would be appreciated.

Orange is usually CIG/CLK power hot at all times.

WHT is usually switched ground from the pin switches in the doors to trigger the lights.

Purple may be the rear defroster.

All infor. from the '86-'87 service manual, not necessarily T top specific.

I would test the mirror and operation on a battery outside the car first to find out how and where the wires should go for proper operation.

The purple wire is for the rear window defogger.

This is from the RM shop manual.

A=White-Courtesy lamp output
B=Black-Ground
C=ECU output 12V
D=Not used
