Good morning everyone,

Just wondering what transmission oil to use on my GN. I have ac Delco in it now but I'm not sure what to use. I was leaning more towards valvoline dexron II synthetic or ac Delco. Any thoughts?

Thanks guys,

Michael

Hi Michael,

Suggest you follow Lonnie's advise at Extreme Automatics & use Dexron VI
which is a full synthetic oil. Lonnie is one of the best 200-4r transmission builders around & he knows his stuff.

Here's a link:

I use Type F in my 200-4Rs, Dex VI in our 4L60Es, and a combination of Type F and hydraulic fluid in the TH400 in my Buick.

Save your money . Do a search on the John Deere Hy-Gard fluid . :)
Bingo. I am actually using Valvoline low viscosity right now.

I really don't think it matters.:dunno: I asked a guy from ATI once that owns his own race car and his reply was, red stuff it makes no difference and change it often. I think with high stall converters and tranny brakes the synthetics might show a benefit BUT if you change the conventional more often you might find things during the fluid change:yup:
