Broken motor Mount maybe.
Strange noise
My 87 GN is making a strange noise from under the hood, but it also sounds like its coming from under the front of the car. Its like a real loud rattle and it gets louder when i put it in drive, sounds like something is loose, but theres nothing loose, but sounds like something from the engine. Any Ideas? Its really hard to explain the noise. It happened after I punched it on the highway.

Take off the drive belt then try it. This will help take a few things off the problem list.

check the intercooler mounting bolts and be sure they are all there.
