Was driving just a few blocks down the road over the weekend and spotted what looked like a GN for sale on a side street. Called the number on the for sale sign and met up with the owner to take a look, car is an '87.

Looking at the VIN# and trunk codes, this car was definitely not a turbo car, originially. No emblems on the car except for 3.8L turbo on the hood. Popped open the hood and and its an intercooled V6. Looks like a virgin engine. Non-adjustable wastegate, stock fuel pressure regulator. Does have an open air filter though. Looks like stock injectors also. Everything looks to be in place and while not being show quality, doesn't look too bad. The wastegate looks a little dirty though, probably a leaky oil line or something.

Someone put in a full GN interior. Seats are in very good condition. Has a bunch of gauges above the glove compartment, but they're not hooked up. Has a digital dash. The steering wheel is not a GN or Turbo steering wheel though, and needs to be replaced.

The car also has Weld racing wheels on it, looks like they'd clean up pretty good. Needs new tires though. Paint seems pretty good, just needs to be washed and waxed. There is a small dent in the front right fender. Looks like it could be popped out. There is a little rust on the bottom of the passenger side door. Some of the bumper fillers are cracked. Rest of the car looks pretty straight and clean.

Took the car for a test drive. Car runs pretty good and rides well. The steering seems loose though, and the brakes a little mushy. Boost only goes up to 13lbs or so. Its possible the engine has not seen a lot of boost, one could hope.

The owner wants $4500 OBO. Maybe he'd take $4000 cash who knows. The car would never be worth much being a clone, but its hard to find Turbo car that cheap these days. Throw on some GN emblems and the car is a decent clone for half the price. With a little TLC it could be a good deal for someone. The owner said it was a posi but I didn't verify. I would also look to see if there is a true BRF trans in there too.

The owners name is Ed 732-749-5638. He says the car has a clear title and everything.
