My car starts stuttering under semi hard acceleration but runs fine cruising through the neighborhood. I found a dry rotted vacuum line to the EGR valve. Could that be the problem? I took it off but haven't had a chance to getaway new one yet. Also I noticed the boost gauge was hitting a pound just cruising at 25 mph.

Stuttering could be a lot of different things, but start with the basics - check all vacuum lines, check your positive battery cable to make sure its not touching the manifold, replace/plugs wires if they're old, etc. Coil pack and MAF seem to be big culprits anymore just because of age too.

Please tell me you are using a real boost gauge and not the lights in the dash?

Yes, although it was the dash one that was registering boost at the time. I replaced the vacuum line, it actually goes to the t under the EGR and got 5 lbs of boost on the real boost gauge with no stutter. Car still runs rough and seems louder so when it cools off I will look for loose bolts on exhaust and turbo an d check spark plugs.

That is 5 lbs on the test drive through my neighborhood and it did not stutter at all. Didn't take it out on the highway because of how rough it is running.
