for thoes of you who dont have direct deposit do you just deposit the check or cash then deposit?

Yeah, I'm with Zap. There's no advantage to cashing first, unless you are concerned about walking away with some cash in your pocket. In that case, the check deposit form has a line for "cash back."

because the bank is from out of state it takes 5 days for it to clear. thank god i have money now and i could hold out the 5 days but just nice to have it avalible at once.

cash it, then deposit it ,the cash will be posted to your account that day...but you have to have enough money in your bank account to cover that check...at least that is how it is with my bank...

sean it used to be like that at my bank but they changed it! unless its for a instate check. i think its dumb but whatever. :rolleyes:

Odd question. I ATM my paycheck and withdraw my self-imposed allowance at the same time from my banks machine.

As all major banks now have "free checking", anybody can just-change banks. I have not paid an ATM charge in 20 yrs. Money is deposited before the end of the next day.

Oh, well in that case, I haven't paid an ATM fee in over 50 years. :wink:

I had a Chemical Bank checking account 30 years ago. I remember them having ATM machines in only the main branches around NYC. I had to go downtown to get money after hours or weekends if I needed it.
