No, but 2 pieces required.

Picture I.D. plus birth certificate will get you in.

A state-issued birth certificate. The one from the hospital won't work anymore; too easily counterfeited. Takes about 6 weeks to get from when you apply. At least it's cheaper than a passport and alot less hassle.

I needed one when I had to go to a customer's site in Ottowa Ontario about 4 years ago. Might have been different since it was business and not pleasure.

I don't think you need a passport until 2007.

I'm heading to Bowmanville, Ontario next weekend to go racing. I'm bringing my license and birth certificate to get back and forth.

If you are driving don't forget to call you're insurance company and get Insurance Cards for Canada.

It's actually the other way around that will require a passport very soon. Canadian residents travelling to the US will need a passport. But I believe it will be in 2007 that it takes effect.

We go on a fishing trip every year. We were told we will need a passport to re-enter the US in 2007. This year we went with birth certificates and drivers' licenses.
