First time on message board and new '87 GN owner. The car' VDO Oil Pressure gauge in electronic, and the gauge's scale is from 0-150 lbs per sq inch. When the car is first started (cold) the gauge shows approx. 125 lbs. Once it warms up and is idleing it runs at approx. 35 lbs and under acceleration warm it runs at approx. 85-90 lbs. Any ideas?

Yup bad gauge.

Electrical gauges suck in MHO.

Excepting the voltmeter one.

What kind of oil pump pressure mods. does the car have?

Maybe a mixmatch of gauge and sender. I haven't seen a VDO gauge with a scale that high. Maybe the more common 0 - 100psi sender is in use on your car. It would be an easy test to put a mechanical gauge on duty, to shed some light on things.

hope that helps.......

Thanks, it has a high volume oil pump, .30 over, 210-205 Cam, Champion Iron Heads, etc.

I will probably replace the gauge with a mechanical one.

Thanks,
