New to the Turbo 6 scene, have some questions

Just have a few questions that I was hopeing you guys or girls could help me with. My father just found me a 1987 Regal T-Type, 65,000 miles, lady driven in "Excellent" shape for $8,000. I haven't seen it yet, (Support Operation Enduring Freedom, yes play'n in the sandbox) but my Dad is a car nut and says it's worth it. First question is: Good price or do you think she is high? Second question is I want it to run Low 12's, what is best mods to do to get there? Third, I really don't like the look of the stock Regal wheels, what are my options, if you have any pics I would love to see them. Thanks in advance! Bye the way, we are kick'n some serious butt over here!

Hey! Get Bin-Laden's head, stick it in a bag and deliver it to Bush. 25 million would make for some great "mod money". Sounds like a decent price to me, keep up the ass kicking, we civilians appreciate it more than we can say!

That would be an okay price for a loaded one with excellent paint, interior, body. No Idaho winters.
And the mileage you quoted.

Stock wheels are okay depends on what color it is as to what aftermarket ones look good.

Hey good job over there, just wait til you get back and get a scantool on the car before you order the mods.

Start with fuel system and free stuff and "spring cleaning" first.

Good luck.

Thanks guys! Yes it has excellent paint and interior. It has been driven in the winter but very little, my parents actually know the lady pretty good. Thanks for the comments about the military, some days (18-20hr days) I wonder if it's worth it, but all I have to do is think back to Sept 11th. Anyways, so I think I'll have the wife put down the cash this weekend! Thanks again!
Actually, for a solid car, that is a pretty good price. There are some real dogs out there now.

go to www.gnttype.org and click on technical resources, then find the performance recipe section and the spring cleaning section.

It takes very little to get down into the 12s.....usually less than a thousand will cover a good air filter, exhaust, fuel pump, chip, and some sticky tires....

Getting into the 11's takes another thousand-usually, for larger injectors and turbo.

Don't be in a rush to buy ever whizbang advertised as these cars are all about combination and there ain't no magic parts.

Does it have posi???
If not, you will need to add.
Cost = around 750.00.
Sounds like a good deal!
And think of this" You get to kick some pony riding axx overthere & then you can come back here & kick some more pony riding axx!

Take care!

Man, that must be a gold plated unit! I think I would put 30# in an airbag and drive down the street with the right side kicked up first!

Yes it has a posi! I just sold a 95 Z-28, M6 that ran 13.50 @ 105 all day. Will this car make me smile or is there a lot of growing pains with the T-Types. What I mean are the Mods pretty straight forward and does the Turbo 6s take well to them?
They will make you smile!
They will make you cry!

Steve you are not only a mean-ass, you are a cheap mean-ass! Next, you will probably suggest sacks of concrete in the trunk.

What do you mean?
What do you mean?

and I am a mean cheap ass....should not be much over 500 bucks or I would do it myself!

I agree with Meanass,er Steve.$500 should be good if you do it yourself.Maybe Steve will come and help you install it.He's good.

Stop editing your posts to make me look like a moron. When I am in Texas (to Kick Steve Woods ass), I shall kick yours as well! I just figured out that "ES" stands for "Editing Sh!thead". Texas! A national gathering place for mean-asses.

You would have to get in line to kick my ass.
And it is a long line, wife, daughter, mother, boss...and this black car!
Then forget it, I hate long lines!

Steve's right on the posi.

$350 for the posi (including shipping, less if from J Cotton)
$125 labor for the install
$50 for blah, blah, blah

It's $700 if you upgrade your axles, too.

The price is a typical price, but $5-6K would be buy it before anyone else hears about it price. T's are generally worth $2K-3K less than a similar GN.

Hey Sgt-type, you will find it much easier to make this t-type go fast than your z28. All you litterally need, is a good fuel pump/hotwire,adj. fuel press reg, a good chip, adj wastgate for 18 pound of boost, good gas (94), downpipe, 3" exhaust, KN, sticky tires. With that, you will be in the 12's for sure. These turbo buicks, respond EXTREMLY well to mods. Many of them run low 11's or even high 10's and there so streetable, a novis might not even be able to tell that its moded. Simple bolt-ons will be alll you need to run 11's

EX: A guy in the car club im in, has an 87 turbo T (the same thing you have) with nothing but a good chip,Adj wastgate, 50lbs injectors, KN, fuel pump/hotwire, airbags, BFG drag radials and race gas. With that, he ran a [email protected] 107 through the stock exhaust!!!

Hope that answers your question more directly.

Marc
