Hey guys. I've got some kind of browser reidrect going on. After every 2nd or 3rd navigation move, I loose my whole display to a sweepstakes.com ad. It is annoying as sheit. My antivirus and anti-spyware doesn't pick it up. It is instant loading so I am not being directed to the actual site. It just hi-jacks my address bar and screen. Help, please. I am ready to pull my hair out.

Did you try HijackThis ?? It'll show the Browser Helper Objects(BHO's) that will cause what you are seeing....Make sure all your def's are up to date and your antispyware(adaware, spybot search+destroy, Spyware Doctor, Spysweeper are all great, 1st two are free ones), disconnect from the net, reboot in safe mode and run again.... Good Luck :yup:

And when you get that straightend out switch to Firefox. It's the best porn browser ever. Oh and it's not subject to all the backdoors that IE has.

Download the free version of adaware at lavasoft.com. It works very well.

Try going to all programs, accesories, system tools, restore? If this just started recently go back a week or two in the restore function and get that browser hijacker out of the registery. :)

Opera is the best browser IMO. Try it!

Thanks guys. I've got a few more things to try now. To answer the question, no I was not porn-ing it up. I specifically avoid those sites just for these reasons. All of my porn is on dvd. :D

I did try restore and it cleared it off for about a day and then it reinstalled it. I'm not a real big surfer. I stick pretty much to the same sites all of time so I have no idea where I picked this one up.

Unless you absolutely need it...Turn off system restore and then reboot into safe mode and run the scans...some of the real nasty sh$t gets stored in the system restore folder(s) and will come back... :headbang:

edit: Once you are cleaned up for sure, you can turn system restore back on

Googled this up for you..........

To use a Safe Boot option, follow these steps.

Restart your computer, and when the Boot menu appears, press F8.

When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, select an option, and then press ENTER.

When the Boot menu appears again, with the words "Safe Mode" displayed in red at the bottom, select the installation you want to start, and then press ENTER.

Editor Addition--

Some people have problems getting into safe mode by this method for whatever reason. Here's a harder, alternative method.

1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. Type msconfig in the textbox and press ENTER
4. Click Boot.ini tab
5. Click /Safeboot option
6. Click OK and reboot

You will reboot back into safe mode. Once you are finished, reload msconfig and do the following to get back into regular mode:

1. Load msconfig (as above)
2. Click General tab
3. Click Normal Startup
4. Click OK and reboot
