JayJackson 62mm TB

If ya had this done to your T/body & plenum " Did you notice any improvements & if so what kind? Mines being done now" I was wondering what to expect.

With your combo I would expect a good improvement over your stock TB/Plenum. I had mine done, but haven't had any good luck at the track with it do to my own errors and a leaky IC.

I'm banking on a pretty good improvement on just the stock Turbo and stock long block.

A lot of guys run them and I suspect that there's a good reason for it.

I compared mine to an unported one and was amazed at how much bigger everything was, shold be a large flow improvement.

Seems like I documented .1 and .5mph improvement. I believe this was due to increased throttle response mainly.

A lot of us have one or similar. Probably not much bang for the buck, actually. Throttle response does seem better, tho.

Throttle responce is good esp. with a 51! Ang MPG or knock improvements?
Not that I saw....I am running a 65mm/Hemco,btw.

I noticed a little improvement(Acufab65mm/65mmHemco) But by old throttle body had a worn throttle plate shaft and would stumble when you moved the throttle lever up and down. Has anyone compared a new stock throttle body next to a new 62mm,65mm,70mm or a Jay Jackson unit???

Visually or performance wise?

Preformance wise I have tried to compare runs but had problems after the TB went on.

Jay Jackson 62mm.

Visually speaking, side by side there appears to be a lot more area, and a smoother flow path.

You should see better throttle response with slightly better throttle response and a noticeable difference in engine "tone" when under boost.I did mine similar to Jay's idea 5 years ago and I could feel the difference. The plugs all started to colour the same as well.Go figure.Maybe there's something to this, huh?

performance wise new stock to the rest?

In the end, we all felt improvement, but very few have shown it on the time slip....that's the problem.

Due to more area, a smaller opening is required of the butterfly to achieve the same air flow. Therefore it feels better..less movement, same effect. On the top end, we seldom use all the air that the stock one is capable of.

Jay's is by far the best price and it might be worth it just to get a rebushed butterfly pivot that leaks no air.

I can't comment on Steve's dragstrip point, but I would say the rest of his points are valid.I noticed smoother running,a bit better mileage and better throttle tip in.Besides, who's gonna know that you've got an upgraded throttle body, unless you tell them.

Welp" Sounds like good money spent.

That $700+ IC still gets me though!

Everyone here should pitch in & by me one for Christmas!
V4 will be fine' eastern FM would be nice to.

We're taking up a collection to get you a brain transplant. You'll have to wait till next year for the intercooler.

Hey get the Duttweiler mod. for the stocker clean it out and forget the V4 for now. Put one of those on the GN and it works well. 2 psi. more boost. V4 only got me 4-5psi on salvageV6.

That is if the $700 REALLY bothers ya...

Tell us about it..... again....

Reduction in back pressure does not necessarily mean that the ic cools any better..you can put a piece of sewer pipe between the turbo and the tb and get all possible boost but not run as well.

The V4 has more efficient cooling as well.

Maybe one tenth in the quarter against 4 tenths....when figuring the cost per tenth, I don't think the Duttweiller comes off so well.

Mean-ass....

Get one used already welded...
