Sorry but I meant to post here for more opinions.
Went for a drive & when cold the car idles to low and almost dies. After 5 minutes its ok. Come home & re-set IAC & proceed to TPS. While car was running I accidentally moved TPS up & down. Reads 42-46 but now car wont idle in drive. Chugs up & down then dies! Didn't check the TPS #'s when it happens. In Park its fine & idles great??
Did I fry the TPS? Why only in drive is it chugging?? Ideas please? Thanks!! angrymou

I quit playing with it for today but I have good spares of almost every sensor. Will try again tomorrow but my main question i guess is do you fry the TPS if you move it while the engine is running? I wouldn't think so but thats all I did?
Anyone know for sure! dunno

From what I've learned here you have to adjust the IAC & the TPS together. Keep checking both until you have them in spec.

No you can't hurt it. Reset the ECM and start over. Set TPS .42-.44 and IAC .10-.25 @ idle.
If they are both way out, With key on engine off Back out IAC/Idle screw all the way until throttle plate is closed. Now screw in 1 1/2 turns. now set TPS to .42. This should get you close.

My 86TT from a cold start with sag off (but not die) 4 time at 15 second intervals and they smooth out. Not 3 times, not 5 times, 4 times.

I've been trying to watch the ALDL to see if something obvious happens but so far nothing. I'm wondering if it just needs to be richer at cold start?
