On Sat, I was driving the highway to the track and a short time after turning on the cruise, I felt a hesitation and the SES light flickered.

The SM only showed a code 51 - non std chip (running a Red's 93). It happened a few more times until it started running like ****.

Pulled off the h/way and disconnected the orange wire. Ran fine upon re-start until I re-activated the cruise.

Noticed the IAC #'s were running around 60-70 and when it hesitated, it would jump down to 35-40 and return to 70. Switching off the cruise solved the prob.

Do I need a new IAC? Where should I begin the search?

Thanks Steve.

I had all kinds of malfunction codes a few weeks back which cleared up after unplugging the orange wire.

I'll try the eraser test first before I look for a new chip.
