Because it is old technology that runs too much timing. The TurboTweak will out perform it and be easier on your headgaskets. I wouldn't be doing any upgrades till you put a bigger fuel pump with hotwire kit, and change out the injectors if you still have the original ones in it.

Hypertech made several versions of that chip. I have two of them. As to whats inside ... they increase the 3rd gear tcc lock & unlock mph, set the fan on/off for 160 deg t-stat, and increase boost (for stock wastegate solenoid) by 19% in 1st & 2nd gear, 48% in 3rd, and 35% in 4th gear.
The timing is all stock, as is the egr and maf control.

You'll need lots of 100 octane fuel if you use the turbo or just get a TT chip.
