I dunno if this will hurt the eng bearings or not" My eng is pegging my O.P. gauge over 80lb's & stay's there till it reaches op. temp 160. then drops to 40lb's. Should I change to a lower pressure spring? It did this with the last rebuild & the bearings were scared. Can high O.P. cause the babbit to wash from the bearings? I DO NOT want to build this eng again! I think 80lbs is to much.

Mine runs up to 85lbs on cold start up but drops down to normal after a few minutes. I have my oil bypass blocked on my fresh motor.
I think running that high to full warm up is too long and also will blow out your oil filter on real cold start up. Make sure you put the right spring in and the valve is not jammed with sh!t.

80# is okay at first start up but our engines really don't need that kinda pressure. I would go to the next weaker spring as the pressure strains the cam sensor, oil pump drive, etc and just bypasses more oil anyway unless the bypass is plugged.

I dont have my bypass pluged' I do have a HV pump. I dropped to the next spring & now its starting at 65lb's & 40 at 160. Whats the lowest exceptable pressure" I havent drove it yet & it could drop more.

Hmm. My mechanic put his "own" spring in my car. And it hits 100 lbs on cold starts, and goes close to 100 lbs when accelerating. It drops down but operaters as high as 75 to 80. I had a feeling it was not good, but he insists on it being top notch number one !

The rule is 10psi of oil pressure for every 1000rpm's So I guess your ready to cross the traps at 10000rpm's
That kind of pressure is great for Pro Stocks but will do more harm than good in our motors...
