Anyone have the GM gas tank part number handy. Don't ask....

Everytime I drive the new GN something goes wrong... grrrrr....

I'd torch it but then I'd be a hypocrite.

Try the old bar soap trick to stop the leak?
I am with you on the car thing. Mine is still smoking and I have not founfd the cure. With my luck, it will be a headgasket.

Thanks.

Can't wait to see what this will cost me....

Bar soap trick? Hmmm, not something you learned in prison I hope...

Oh well at least I get to see what kind of fuel pump is in there. Should never have hot wired it recently musta disturbed the rust....

$210 and of course discontinued.

Anyone know a new part number or replacement number?
I bet there are some still in stock...we bought one recently. You might try Dal and see if he can find one for you.

Some say the aftermarket replacement is baffled just like factory and others say not so. We also bought one of these and it was not baffled the same...not sure what is going on there.

What aftermarket one are you talking about?

I've had one on salvageV6 that was aftermarket with totally different baffling and it hasn't made any difference at all in actual use. Yeah, I run the thing down 'til the add on low level light comes on too.

I was just going to get an original cause I didn't want to solder the neck on the aftermarket ones and the GM woulda been only $50 more.

I guess I'll shop around for a stocker.

There is supposed to be a new replacement number out there though...

Most radiator repair shops do gas tank repairs also. If it is not too rotted it should be fixed for under $75.00
Good luck

I am trying to find the name for you....

I used J&B weld on my Elky recently around the neck and it seems to have worked...otherwise I was going to take it to the radiator shop to be welded.

salvage, pull one out of a monte.

Ed what do they do to them? Solder them?

Fiberglass?

I haven't gotten it out yet, prolly next spring since its not pouring out yet. Full tank too.

I want to go new so I can rust proof it and POR 15 it and then put some tar on it.

I want to be dead before this next tank gives anyone a problem.

They give it a hot tank acid bath to remove all of the sh!t in and out. Then they pressurize it under the solution to find the leaks and hot lead weld all of the holes or leaking seams. I did mine 10 years ago and still holding.
