I took the Buick out of semi-hibernation this week because Spring is sprung, and now I've got this whirring noise coming from the driver's side rear area. It sounds like a cross between PA system feedback and a loud vacuum cleaner. I'm guessing the fuel pump because it's only when the car's running.

Pump is a Walbro 340 installed 3 years ago, and it's got a Racetronix hotwire kit installed last summer. Never heard anything like this until last night. Do fuel pumps go bad?

Thanks in advance,

I wouldn't panic yet.Just drive it easy for a little bit and see if the pump settles down.
You probably built up some varnish on the pump gizzards while it sat for the winter.

Thanks, Radius - or should I call you Mr. Kid? :D

The car doesn't seem to be any worse for it so far. BLMs and O2s are all in line. I'll keep an ear out and some extra $$$ stashed just in case...
