Can I get the thrust milled down and then use an oversized bearing? Do they make such a thing? Help!

I think crank places weld the thrust back up but I would only trust a real crank shop.

I have not seen an oversized bearing.

Since there is no oversize bearing available and since I hate to see any cast iron welding on cranks,I would say pass on it.In a regular app. such as a carburated engine,okay.In a 600 hp monster?Not a chance.I don't care how good the welder thinks he is.You're the guy footing the bill.

They do make such a oversize thrust bearing.But the can only be had .010 or under journal.There are several thrust thickneses on the bearing to choose from.King and Clevite make them.

Louie, I am not finding any info on these bearings for the Buick V6. Are you sure they are made for our applications? Got any part numbers or know where to look? Thanks.

I came up with soem part numbers:
Clevite
MS1747P = .010 oversized thrust
MS1688P = .020 oversized thrust
MS1690P = .040 oversized thrust

This information came from a local race shop. So I called Jegs to get some pricing, but he says these part numbers are for '88-'90 231ci's. Anyone have the correct part numbers or know if these bearings are the same as the '86-'87 ? My guess is no.

I also had him check for '80-'84 4.1's but they are coming up as the same for the 3.8.

As of now I can not find an oversized thrust bearing for the '86-'87 3.8. Help!
