Ed, I cursed my elky for months because the headlights came on everytime I tried to work on it...finally just unplugged them. Last spring, I was going to start swapping another dash in because the old dash was cracked and RK inspired me. I need to finish the job, too....

Anyway, I discovered it had a twilight sentinel in the dash and the switch was bumped so the lights always came on. dunno poon

Maybe a short. What I did was a band aid fix, as I could never find the short. I did a switch into the gray wire at radio and mine works.
You might also check and see if you are having a problem with the console light and the cigarette lighter not being grounded properly.

My guess would be something really simple, like you have the dash light dimmer turned way too low.

Actually the dimmer doesn't work at all, the digits remain the same brightness no matter how I adjust it. Does this mean that the switch is gone??

Thanks for your help guys,

Pull the fuse panal down look at every fuse in there. I had a fuse blow on the side and could not see that it was blown. Had the same problem. Pull and check all fuses. Start at the top for some reason I think thats where it was. Hope you find something simple.

You were dead on. One of the top fuses (5amp) was blown. Problem solved.

Thanks.
