ok i have a code 31 showing up on my car, i know its for the wastegate solenoid, i looked it up on the site, how would i go about testing the solenoid and wastegate? i never had a turbo car before and i am new to this , any help would be great, thanks (btw 86 GN )

it is either the wastegate solenoid or its circuit. You might begin by checking to see if there is 12volts in one of the solenoid wires with the key on. If not, check for a blown fuse.

As I recall, the other wire is a ground wire that is grounded (pulsed) by the ecm command so it is not always grounded...only when the ecm wants to operate the solenoid.

If you have 12 vs and you very momentarily ground the ground wire with a jumper wire and don;t hear the solenoid click, I would say it is bad.

Note that I said momentarily.
