OK I try to start my to come home from work and it doesnt start. Finally after like the sixth time it starts but throws me a code 41 camshaft sensor malfunction on the scanmaster. My question is do I have to replace the camshaft sensor with drive or just the camshaft sensor?

Usually just the cap goes bad and can be gotten for ~ $80.00. A new complete sensor is $150.00-$175.00. Maybe you have slop in the actual drive?

Before you go out and spend money on parts do a diagnostic check for code 41. Most likely it's the cam sensor. Also the replacement cam sensor cap is around $35 not $80. Unless you are paying list price at GM

This code may not indicate that the sensor is bad, but, may be a wiring problem or a module problem as well.

With Ed's help, I have been trying to build a site aimed at trouble shooting. It is not finished but all the trouble shooting codes and trouble shooting procedures for the codes are shown.

Most of the info is from the manual.
