I am pretty sure my stock acuator is shot. It will make over 20 psi on an all stock car. Ie stock chip etc. Needlees to say I am not doing that again. If I "Plug". The open port on the solenoid I only make about 10 p.s.i.. Anyhow does any one know for certain how much boost an all stock 87 should make. I know that the newer actuators are adjustable, and I am a little lost here. Also do they Vary the boost ie 12-14 lbs or should it stay constant under WOT ? Thanks

I think I heard that the boost could hit 14-15psi, but the computer would back it off to 13psi or so. You can make an adjustable wastegate arm for pretty cheap. Go to www.gnttype.org to see how. I remember someone posting about overboost occuring because he took off his CAT. He had the stock length arm too. Did you take your CAT off?

If you plug the open port on the solenoid and you only get 10 psi, your actuator is working fine.

Have you changed anything on your car recently to cause the overboost?

A chip change can result in overboost (but plugging the solenoid will override the chip commands)

Your solenoid may be malfunctioning (Do you get any codes)

Some new "Y" hoses have an orifice that is too small that can cause overboost.

Any leaks in the "Y" hose will result in increased boost.
