Ok steve i just disconnected it and when i disconnected it ran as if it was normal.
What happend??? I had just replaced my MAF 1 1/2 weeks ago.

Is it possible to drive the car with it disconnected?

Replaced it with what?? A remanufactured unit? That probably answered your question. wink

The remanufactured units are incredibly unreliable, and just can't be trusted.

take it back and get another one. Hopefully you will get lucky as we sometimes do. I have one car with a reman unit that has worked for three years.

On the other hand, probably 75% do not work out from what is posted here. Over the years, Echlin and Standard units have seemed to be more reliable...kinda like russian roulette.

Or your o2 sensor went. When they go the car runs rich (black smoke) and bogs down on acceleration. Change the o2 and the plugs as they are gas fouled. :p
