Just read on the other board that the balancer bolt is a tty bolt and should be replaced. I see that they are still available and not very expensive. Any of you experts have an opinion on this? You do occasionally hear of people's balancers coming lose. :dunno:

I use the recommended torque 219 ft. lbs and loctite on the bolt, never replaced it before.

Never had one come loose. :dunno:

I took one off once that was indeed lose. But, as you said, I torque mine to 220-230 with blue loctite and it hasn't come lose. I just wondered if it might be a safeguard since they are available and inexpensive. If they are tty, then the torque specs would be inaccurate.

TTY bolts with a tq spec in ft lbs would defeat the purpose of TTY. TTY bolts have to have a min. tq spec+ degrees of turn to be any kind of effective.

As I am always looking to learn, does anybody know of a TTY bolt not set by angle.
