Well, I have to rebuild my new TA-49. I figure I better just replace my intercooler too. I want a stock location intercooler. If anybody has somthing good to say about any aftermarket "stock location" intercoolers it would be greatly appreciated. I know I should go with a front mount, but I want to keep the stock appearance. I'm also getting a powewr plate. Thanks guys!

V4.
I went 11.92 on the stock turbo, and in my opinion it had a lot to do with the V4.

upper tens....some have gone faster but 10.7 is a good number.

Below are the descriptions of the three models available from CAS, I would not consider the V4S unless your ic is rotten as you can do the same for less money with a big mouth kit.
___________________________________________

The V-4S is a direct stock replacement intercooler and utilizes the stock intercooler shroud and the stock mounting bracket. A direct replacement. This unit utilizes our 13-row core matrix, features our exclusive high flow inlet and outlet necks like used on our V-4 and V-4R intercoolers and is powder coated 70% gloss black. Typical gains of 1/10 - 2/10s. If your on a budget and need to replace your stock intercooler, this is the unit for you. During testing at Buicks at Bristol 2000, this went 11.19 @ 120 MPH at Bristol 2000 (high elevation).
V-4S $499 (stock item)

Our V-4 19/21 row stock location intercooler is a direct bolt in that fits with the sway bar. On a low 12 second car, the V-4 will knock a solid 3/10s and 3 MPH off 1/4 mile E.T.s and the 19/21 row has already been well into the 10.6s at 126 MPH+. The 19/21 row V-4 mantains almost the same ground clearance as the OE intercooler with the shroud installed. See the March 2000 and May 2000 issues of GM High Tech Performance for a compelte feature and install on the V-4. Please note, as of January 2001, the 19 row has become a 21 row and the 24 row has become a 27 row as the result of our new core matrix and brazing process. We have seen no measurable difference in performance from the 19 to the 21 or from the 24 to the 27 row.
V-4 Stock Location 21 row intercooler $699 (currently backlogged 3 weeks)

The V-4R 24/27 row model will support up to 750 horsepower and also fits with swaybar.
V-4R Stock Location 27 row intercooler $869 (currently backlogged 3 weeks)

My roomate has a V4 and loves it! He picked up 4 tenths at the track. Now weather you want to go with a front mount or stock location is your own decision. If the car is mostly driven on the street then stick with a stock location IC.

I would order it from a vendor such as Ramchargers. Usually there is a 2-3 month waiting list for one.

The vendors often get them first.

Well worth the wait, that V4 is.

I still haven't gotten mine yet. But I do have the Power plate. I will be getting the V4. I can't wait. But it looks like even after I have the money I will still have a long wait

CAS seems to have the market cornered on this item. But its really sad the customers have to suffer from extremely long waiting periods (from 3-5 months), and no customer support whatsoever. But its a nice peice.

order it in Janurary and will be ready for use in the spring.

If you call and bug tony once in a while you can get it in 6 weeks. I bought mine from CAS, same price and its not been shipped all over the country and possibly damaged.

I don't think there was any official test on which "stock location intercooler" is the best. I have seen a Mark Jackson go 9.60's and a Fairpark Racing go 9.80's! Has a CAS gone that fast yet? I personally run Fairpark's intercooler on multiple cars.

9.60's on a stock location IC? Wow... I would imagine you could keep the car pretty tame looking under the hood WITHOUT a front mount. What a 'sleeper'...

Where can I get info on these intercoolers you speak of? I never said stock location was the best. I just like the stock look. I want the best intercooler I can get for the stock location. I like a sleeper. No chrome under my hood! Except breathers
Thanks guys!

I ordered my V4 online from CAS and got it within 3 weeks - I had originally ordered it from Ramchargers and was still waiting after 3 months!
