Hi guys i've been trolling the forums for a while now and have a question about a 3800 fwd to rwd conversion. My son is wanting to start on a custom car project for completion when he is 16 and we have an engine question. I have a 3800 from a 1993 olds 98 series 1 i believe, am i correct in what i've been reading that a 2.8 trans will mount to this engine? is a 700r or a manual an option? I have to decide soon whether to strip this olds or send it to the graveyard. I've wanted to use a 3800 for a while now, been a great engine in several cars i have had but nevr rwd
thanks

If you want to know what a 3800 feels like in RWD configuration get a 1996-2001 Camaro/Firebird.
But to use your engine in RWD the intake would be facing the firewall.
Most conversions use the Camaro/Firebird intake because faces "the right way" the trans out of those cars is the 4l60 which is a proven piece, and bolts right up.
