Orlando_87GN's 1987 Buick Grand National
Welcome to Mike Savino's garage! I bought my 1987 Grand National sometime in 1998. Ever since it's first drive I always wanted to make it even faster than it already was (who doesn't) while retaining good street manners and gas mileage. The Buick is the ultimate 11 second highway cruiser.

Car#1
1987 Buick Grand National, solid roof, digital dash:
  • Budget 4.1 Production Motor
  • Champion Iron Ported Heads
  • CPT-66 Ball Bearing Turbo from Cottons Performance
  • 204/214 Cam
  • MSD 75# Injectors
  • PTE Stock Location Intercooler
  • Translator Plus, LS1 Maf with Extender chip
  • 3800# w/driver
  • Aluminum Radiator Core Support
  • Aluminum Bumper Inserts
  • Torque Thrust II 17"x8" 4"backspace

Best time to date in this car was before the 66 turbo, ported heads and PTE intercooler. One of these days I'll go back to the track for some updated times!
11.40 @ 117mph with 21 Timing, 25psi Boost on Drag Radials

Car#2
Mazda RX-7 with Grand National Drivetrain
  • 4.1 Production block
  • Champion Ported Iron Heads and Intake
  • .040" over, Federal Hyper Pistons
  • 210/210 roller cam
  • 14 bolt Girdle
  • CPT-70 Turbo from Cottons Performance
  • Custom built Garrett Front Mount Intercooler
  • Viper 3.08 Rear End
  • Cooling Mist Alcohol Injection soon to be installed

Dyno'ed the car at KDK Performance Orlando, FL shortly after initial engine install. Had some issues like torque converter ect but was able to put down 560HP. Also went to the track about the same time as the dyno and ran 11.2? @ 128MPH. Need some more trigger time and there is a lot of room for improvement.
