Hey guys, its been a while since I've been on the board hope everybody is doing well. I've got an 86 GN 93000 miles with an old Hypertech chip ( I know) Walbro 340 and adj. fpr. I'm getting 35 degrees of knock retard at idle and was wondering if I might have a bad knock sensor or could it be something else. Btw o2 checks fine TPS is good and BLM is ballpark. Any help would be greatly appreciated :dunno: .

Pretty hard to get knock at idle so i would guess something else is causing the timing retard.

If you pull the connector off the knock sensor, does the engine idle properly and drive normally? Just normal driving...no wot stuff. :)

The car still runs with 35deg KR? When I got that much KR at idle the car would just stall. Turned out my maf pipe was touching the alternator pulley at idle.HTH

I'm using a Mac Tools Taskmaster for my scantool. Steve when I unplugged the knock sensor the idle began to drop towards a stall until I plugged it back up. There's anything other than WOT? :headbang: I don't think I'm actually getting that much retard the car is pulling too hard. Faulty reading or incompatible scantool :dunno: .

when I used my Auto Xray scan tool it would put my car into limp mode and it would show 35* of knock retard...but car ran fine and would show no codes....some scan tools do not work...which is why I have a scan master DS and PL...could just be the scan tool
