Simple Cigarette lighter repair turns ugly

Hi There Folks,

I wanted to replace my rotted, rusty cigarette lighter with a new one.
In removing the old one out of the hole in the dash, I touched the back of it by accident with my pick, sparked, and figured I blew the fuse.

Now when I put a test light to the fuse for "int lights", it shows nothing.
So I replace the fuse, even though it still looks fine, and still nothing. I replace the fuse with 3 other fuses, all 5A as that is what the fuse panel is telling me.
And now I have no interior map lights, or radio, or anything.

Any ideas on how I can fix this silly mistake?

Thanks so much ,
NK!!

I would start by checking the correct fuse....it is a 20 amp fuse and is labeled cig-clk

The interior lights, radio ,power door locks, glove box and trunk lights are on the same circuit as the cigarette lighter. As Steve said it is a 20 amp , circuit is Cig-Clk. I just had the same issue last week. Are you using an aftermarket lighter well/socket? The GN OEM are getting hard to find. I got one from G body parts , used. Even the salvage yards in my area had none.

20 A?
It says 5A on my fuse box panel. And it is labelled Int Lights? Let me look for another one labelled Cig-CLK. Thanks Guys. I will let you know hot it turns out.

here is a diagram....

Cig-Clk Antenna relay, AC control head, radio capacitor, security indicator, chime module, instrument cluster (digital), radio, cigar lighter, glove box lite, engine compartment lite, footwell courtesy lites, power door locks, dome lights, trunk lites, vanity mirror lites, BAT. These circuits used an orange wire for power supply.

Inst LPS Tach/boost gauge, illuminated trim plate, instrument cluster, heater.ac control head, convenience center, radio, defogger ashtray or console light. All of the above circuits used gray wires for power supply.

it is not labelled interior lites...the one you are looking at is for the instrument panel lites

You Guys Rock. Thank You.
I have the car at my GM Shop this week. It passed the front-end guys assessment with flying colours. (Other than the fact that I need tires...they sat for over 5 years) The tune up guy will be checking it out with the GM Tech I tomorrow. I will let you know if I need more help on this issue.
Thanks again Gents,
NK!!

Does your GM tech know Grand Nationals?

That's a very important question BTW!

Agreed 100% Earlbrown. These guys are making sure the core mechanics are working right. It will be going to Bill/More Boost next week for a proper GN tuning.
