| Catch this story. http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...bs_4&printer=1 My favorite part of the story was "We discovered that all what the (Iraqi) information minister was saying was all lies," said Ali Hassan, a government employee in Cairo, Egypt. "Now no one believes Al-Jazeera anymore." Well DUH!! I hope that actually is true.

| People tend to believe what they want to. Educated people in the area knew Saddam for what he is/was. I suspect history will show that only the lack of opportunity prevented him from being a greater monster than Hitler and Stalin. The hardest part is yet to come as we must find a means to install an independent government that is not perceived as our lap dog, nor infiltrated with agents of Syria or similar. A truly democratic government will be feared by most of the surrounding countries whether the Baathists of Syria or the royalty of Saudi. Iraq is a beautiful country blessed with some of the oldest/best archeological sites in the world, tremendously fertile agricultural areas, and an immensity of oil wealth. It should be one of the great tourist areas of the world due to its ancient history and variety of scenery. Revenge is a dish best served hot in that area and I fear that many of those that made the country run will come to an ill end as debts are repaid. It will not be easy. I, too, have been extremely proud to be an American throughout this endeavor. It makes me sad to see how many across the world were pulling for an undenied tyrant of the worst type just because they wanted to see us get hurt. Especially as we have given so many of our sons to save their worthless asses in the past 100 years. I suspect that we will do so again before it is all over in spite of their apparent hatreds and jealousies. I have long wondered why so many people kiss Russian ass after all the atrocities they have committed in the past 75 years. Perhaps it is because the Russians might just put a bullet in their critics while we just turn our cheeks?? It is the height of hypocrisy for those pricks to comment negatively upon our actions.

| I had to laugh at the convoy of Russian "diplomats" getting caught in the crossfire a couple of days ago. Why would diplomats be there at this point? Military advisors perhaps? yup Nice Soviet style defense Iraq used. Really smart to use a defense we've been war-gaming against for 40 years. The combination of stealth and precision guided weapons, and most importantly, people that know how to use them, is a deadly combination. Idiots with guns will simply not win a war in the 21st century. Superior people with superior weapons will.As long as 99% of the Arab media is funded and controlled by rulers with more in common with Hussein than with democracy, don't expect democracy or the United States to be popular in that region. Idiotic propoganda, no matter how outrageous, works well on uneducated masses (and Hollywood liberals) if repeated enough. I tend to think the information revolution will someday bring down the more repressive regimes of the world. The media, and the truth, is getting harder to control. Someday, and that day is near, information will be impossible to control. The pen (and the internet) is indeed mightier than the sword. usa
