Angry I sorta made it to the track yesterday...

I actually had a stupid attack and decided I was going racing today. Slipping tranny and all! Before my eyes even opened this morning my brain said "lets go racing" (first time in 2 years). So I had an all morning THRASH & PRAY session trying to get things working and packed. The vacuum lines to the g-valve were a bit dried out so I replaced them and I bought 10gal of fuel, oil and replaced various missing nuts/bolts. Then while I was running around I thought I would verify boost setting. It has been rock solid at 23psi so I that's what it should be. WRONG! It jumped to 25 and would not come back down.. OK, adjust g-valve and go for another blast. NOW 28psi!! WTF! 1 more quick adjustment: STILL 28psi! I decided to worry about it up at the track.
On the way up (I drove it 70 miles, maybe) I start smelling burnt oil. A quick check at a gas station and it seemed that oil was splattering out of the pcv hole in the manifold, since I have the vacuum hose plugged up. OIL IS EVERYWHERE!
Get to the track and more thrashing to clean up oil, change tires, figure boost problem and cool car down. I tear apart the g-valve, cleaned it out and "guessed" where it should be for the first run and made a mental note: REMEMBER TO WATCH BOOST GAGE DURING RUN!!!

I rushed to the water box and STUPID, STUPID, STUPID me forgets to BACK into the water box. Nice burnout and I pull to the line and start building boost. It gets to about 14 psi and the car starts pushing through the lights and TOTALLY blows my concentration since I launch at 15psi. I let up a bit and glance at the tree (lights were coming down), glance back at the boost gage and I see 14psi and the car is sliding a bit. I push on the brakes a bit harder and then I see 15+ so I let her rip. It felt lazy and popped going down the track and all the shifts where soft, BUT HOLDING!. At the 1000’ mark I FINALLY remember to look at boost gage (20psi). O2’s .750 with no KR.

I pick up time slip:
12.44 @ 107 60’-1.71.

I get back to the pits and see a MAJOR oil puddle. Time to go home…Oh well...

The only reason why I even went is because I wanted to baseline this new, stock, turbo. I new the car wasn’t ready to run but I did it anyway. Oh well. I’m not even upset, because I had nothing else to do. I just wish I could have gotten in 2 more runs to get the boost dialed up and to lean out the M.Effort. I purposely had it rich for the first run. It made it home w/o problems but it needs a new tranny and a rear main seal.

Sorry so long…
