Thumbs down Conley's Performance Plus screws me :-( ------->

Sorry to bring this to Internet forums but I figured my experience might help other people keep from getting screwed over by Conley's Performance Plus in Humble TX.

I own and operate an Import Performance Shop in Houston Texas. I also race a 93 Nissan 300zx TT. Last year I decided to take my Nissan from a street car to a full out race car. One of the things I needed to complete this task was a DFI system to control my fuel, timing, etc. After doing some research on systems I decided that the Fel Pro Speed Pro system would work the best. I found several places that carried the Fel Pro system but from racing in Houston I remembered that Conley's Performance Plus had some experience with DFI systems. I contacted Lawrence Conley about what he recommended and he agreed that the Fel Pro Bank to Bank Speed Pro would work the best for my car. He also said he would be at the track with a Buick Grand National that had the Fel Pro system installed and I could come by and look at it. I went and looked at the system at the track and went over exactly what I wanted out of the system for my car with Mr. Conley. I asked Mr. Conley to quote me a price for a complete Fel pro Bank to Bank Speed Pro system that would work on my car and he said roughly $2200. That sounded a little high compared to the prices I had seen but I figured it was worth it to have someone local that could help me with the tuning.

On Feb. 21st 2001 I sent Mr. Conley at Conley's Performance Plus a cashiers check for $2500 to pay in full for a complete Fel Pro Speed Pro System. Why did I send $2500 when Mr. Conley had quoted me $2200 you ask?? Well I sent an extra $300 just in case there were any additional things I might need for my particular car. Well weeks went by and I didn't hear a word from Conley's Performance Plus. After about a month without anyone from Conley's calling to even confirm they received my payment or order I called and no one even knew about the order. After several attempts to contact Mr. Conley directly (he works another job so he is only at the shop after 5:00 P.M.) and not being able to get a hold of him I asked his wife Mrs. Conley to please check into my order and find out what was going on. Well after about a week I finally was told by Mrs. Conley that my cashier’s check was indeed there (they had lost it) and the order was placed. Weeks turned into months and every time I would call no one even knew about my order. Most of the time Mr. Conley was at his other job or he was out of town racing and the people on the phone said he was the only one that knew anything about my order. After about 4 months of me sending in my order and complete payment, I finally got to talk to Mr. Conley. He told me that my order was taking so long because they were making the system specifically for my 93 Nissan 300zx TT. After two more months and several unanswered phone calls on my part, Mrs. Conley called me and said my system had arrived.

So in July of 2001 I went to Conley's Performance Plus to pick up my Fel Pro Bank-to-Bank Speed Pro system. When I got there Mr. Conley took me to his office and pointed to a box on the floor and said there is your system. It was after hours (the only time Mr. Conley was there) so I didn't spend much time looking at the system. Then Mr. Conley said his wife had my bill up front. I almost fell over right there.... a bill??? I paid $300 over what he told me the system would cost and I still had a bill?? Well Mrs. Conley proceeded to tell me I owed an additional $420 on top of the $2500 I had already paid. Being the stupid person that I am I just agreed and paid all I had in my pocket which was $220 and told Mrs. Conley I would send her a check for the rest. I got really busy at the shop so the $200 balance slipped my mind and I left the unopened box that contained my system on the floor. Well a couple of weeks later I received a bill in the mail from Conley's Performance Plus reminding me that I owed the $200. Well I then decided to check out the system that was going to cost me a total of $2920 and see why it was so much since Conley's website shows the price at $1995 as can be seen here: www.conleyracing.com. Well the system in the box turned out to be a Fel Pro Sequential system and not the Bank to Bank I had ordered. On top of that it contained an injector harness for a LT1 Camaro instead of a six-cylinder injector harness. Plus none of the accessories were in the box to make it work like the MAP sensor, Water Temp sensor, Ignition Coils, and TPS sensor. When Mr. Conley quoted me the $2200 for the system he said it would be complete and ready to use and I would not have to buy anything additional.

So in early August of 2001 I started calling Conley's Performance Plus trying to get a hold of Mr. Conley to inform him that the system I got was completely the wrong system and was also incomplete. After several weeks of calling and leaving messages without any response I decided to type Mr. Conley a letter explaining my system was the wrong system and that I was asked to pay way in excess of what the system is worth and even what his own website quotes as the selling price. I faxed the letter to Conley's Performance Plus and the next day Mr. Conley called me back and told me he was sorry that I had gotten the wrong system and to send it back to him and he would replace it with the right system and accessories. So I sent it back to Conley's Performance Plus and waited. After 3 weeks and no phone calls I called to check on it. Of course no one knew what was going on so I had to leave messages for Mr. Conley. Another week passed and no phone calls
from Mr. Conley so I called when I figured Mr. Conley would be there. He told me that they were working on the correct system but it was not ready yet. So I waited a few more weeks and called back and was told the same thing.

So in mid September of 2001(almost 7 months after I ordered and paid for the system) I decided that enough was enough and I had other things I could use the money for. I called and told Mr. Conley that I wanted to get a refund on the cost of the unit but being in business myself I told him I would pay whatever restocking fee as long as I could get some kind of refund. Mr. Conley then said instead of paying a restocking fee he would have the distributor sell the system and then he would refund me back 100% of my money. I agreed but told him that I needed to get the refund as soon as possible. Mr. Conley said no problem because the distributor sold these systems all the time. I waited over three weeks and never received a call from Mr. Conley. So I called Mr. Conley and he said that the distributor had a buyer and was waiting for payment. So I waited a few more weeks and never received a call from Mr. Conley. So I called and was told that the system still was not sold even though it had been over a month and a half since I
had sent it back.

It was now late October 2001(8 months since the system was ordered and paid for) and I still did not have the correct system nor did I have any money refunded back to me from Conley's. I called Mr. Conley and told him to just get the system back to me and I would sell it off on Ebay and at least get some money out of it. He said OK and then here is the kicker.......He told me that I was going to have to pay for the shipping back and forth to his distributor. Well at that point I cam unglued and told him that I thought it was pretty sh*tty that I was going to have to pay him *shipping* to get the *wrong* system back from him that I *paid* for over 8 months before. He then told me that he was trying to help *me* out....LOL. How do you like that for customer service??? After a few heated words I hung up on Mr. Conley. I then faxed him a letter stating that I wanted the *correct* system I ordered and paid for over 8 months ago *or* $2500 refunded to me by October 26th or I would take him to small claims court. Well I called again
on October 25th just to see if we could work things out and Mr. Conley hung the phone up on me before I said more then a dozen words. So I am going to small claims court to file a lawsuit against Conley's Performance Plus Inc. and unless you want to get treated like I have I would stay away from this Business.

Thank You for you time and I hope none of you have to go through what I have had to go through. Being a business owner myself I would think that if this is a standard practice they will not stay in business by treating customers like I have been treated.

Sorry to hear about this and I can not comment about Conley or your dealing for I do not know both sides of the story. But would like to encourge you to get your paperwork and story together (ducks in order) and go to see a lawyer to run the story by him and see what he says. Also to get pointers on how small claims court works in your area. Its should only take a half hour of lawyer time to get the facts on how the court system works ( court is not like on TV just to let you know).Every state is different and even counties in a state have certain procedures that differ. Here is how it works in my area for example. First you send a certified letter to a company or person your are requesting money from( send them a bill with a coverletter explaining in brief the amount you require in full and a date you would like your money or you will proceed in the steps to small claims court.)
Next you go to the court house with a breif statement of fact typed up and file a claim to be heard (cost $65 ask for this amount back in you claim) then you get a letter of a date to appear at phase one of small claims court (pretty much set in a room with other people waiting for clerks to call both parties up front to there desk) (you learn first hand you really are a number in life) there are many clerk working at one time. The question they ask to the person you are sewing is do the accept or decline the statements you have made. If they decline which they will if they showed up or have not paid you already. Then the set you down in order to appear infront of the court commissioner to decide if breif if you need a trail date set. After setting a date that you will appear infront of him to tell the whole case you leave. Then appear on the date give to the court commissioner your to tell your story and he will decide and make a judgement. If after his judgement you disagree you file a form to appear infront of the judge (this is where you need a lawyer to represent you). Judgement are clearly made by how the court commissioner feels in the morning when he puts his pants on. (no joke). Also court is only a paper handling party they do not go get the money you win for you. But place a judgement on the person that will haunt them for sometime when the try to purchase items with credit.

Help full hints
1. Gets your ducks in order
2. see a lawyer
3.make copies of every thing you send and send it certified.
4. Add lawyer fee into claim with any postal fees and the court cost.(there are two types of small claim court one is for less than $5,000 and the other is above $5,000 and you need a lawyer present.
learn to have things in writing.
5.Make sure you are sewing the correct person, or company. get it strait it matters.
6. Be respectful

heh, in 8 months it went from FelPro to Speed Pro, now its FAST.

Get in touch with Precision Turbo 219-996-7832. I believe they are the only (or one of the only) approved distributors of these units. Plus Harry is a good guy.

Kyle,
Wish you the best in getting this resolved.
L.C. has a good rep in the buick community. Seems you had the patience of a saint though and you're getting a bad deal.
Maybe try Lance at Fast World HQ 810-225-2700.
Is it too hot or has the water dried up in Texas???? Check out this link, this guy from Hawaii sends his new Z06 to HMS and now he has $20,000 down the toilet.. makes you wonder maybe HMS will be down the toilet. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zero...=172803&page=1

Reading that just boils my blood

I mean, what "other" side of the story could there be? 8 months of B.S.?

Then again, I wouldn't have paid up front unless the correct kit came in and I would have paid by credit card. That way Y-O-U can refused payment and the c.c.company would be after Mr.Conoley. How long was it after giving him the cheque that he cashed it?

A second "then again" don't deal with a guy who doesn't work on imports...thats like going to the eye doctor for a toothache.

Hope things work out...

As the Conley's do not hang out on the boards, I thought it would be interesting to hear the other side of the story so I forwarded the post to CPP. I have no comment other than to say that if I had a dispute with someone locally over this amount of money, I would find a way to go see them on Saturday or after five p.m. and get it straight a lot quicker than this was resolved. I know nothing about the two sides of this dispute other than there are always two sides. .

Hi Steve,

Attached is "MY [LONG] RECOLLECTION of the events.

Please post them in the appropriate place for my rebuttal.

Thanks in advance for your assistance in this matter.

LC

I sincerely hate to launder "STUFF" in this forum but if I don't,
the unhappy and/or dissatisfied customer gets the opportunity to
lambaste w/impunity.

BUT .......... I thought you might like .... "THE REST OF THE STORY".

>I contacted Lawrence Conley about what he recommended and he agreed
that the Fel Pro Bank to Bank Speed Pro would work the best for my car.
- [I recommended a B/B system to the customer in the beginning! -
The customer wanted the Sequential.] [We ordered the "special" seq.
unit per his instructions!]

>Well weeks went by and I didn't hear a word from Conley's Performance
Plus. After about a month without anyone from Conley's calling to even
confirm they received my payment or order I called and no one even
knew about the order.
- [As the customer said ... We did indeed misplaced the check!]

>After several attempts to contact Mr. Conley directly (he works another
job so he is only at the shop after 5:00 P.M.)
- [THE CUSTOMER IS CORRECT! I have maintained a REAL, FULL TIME job
for the 14-15 years that CPP has been in business. I NEED TO EAT TOO!
The customer was aware of this "BEFORE" he came by, "BEFORE" he ordered
and "BEFORE" he sent his money. He was aware that I am available AFTER
5:00PM.]

>Weeks turned into months and every time I would call no one even knew
about my order.
- [He called BEFORE 5:00PM. I was handling the project personally.]

>Weeks turned into months ...
- [The customer was informed personally that the FP conversion BOX was
on back order for parts. He CONTINUALLY stated to me (when he called me
after 5:00PM)that HE WAS IN NO HURRY - THAT THE CAR WAS NOT YET
CONSTRUCTED!]

>... and every time I would call no one even knew about my order. Most
of the time Mr. Conley was at his other job ...
- [He called BEFORE 5:00PM. I STILL have my job and was still handling
the project personally.]

>After about 4 months of me sending in my order and complete payment, I
finally got to talk to Mr. Conley.
- [He finally called AFTER 5:00PM.]

>He told me that my order was taking so long because they were making the
system specifically for my 93 Nissan 300zx TT.
- [A special conversion (black box) was being constructed by FP. The
parts were STILL on BO. HE again stated - "THAT THE CAR WAS NOT YET
CONSTRUCTED"!]

>After two more months and several unanswered phone calls on my part ...
- [He must have been calling BEFORE 5:00PM.]

>Then Mr. Conley said his wife had my bill up front. I almost fell over
right there.... a bill??? I paid $300 over what he told me the system
would cost and I still had a bill?? Well Mrs. Conley proceeded to tell
me I owed an additional $420 on top of the $2500 I had already paid. Being
the stupid person that I am I just agreed and paid all I had in my pocket
which was $220 and told Mrs. Conley I would send her a check for the rest.
- [I was TOTALLY UNAWARE of the customers dissatisfaction with the charges
and did NOT HEAR ABOUT THAT DISSATISFACTION until he called me at a MUCH
LATER date. I was ONLY TWO[2] offices down when he made the payment and
picked up his system. I would have been MORE than happy to revisit and
discuss any billing discrepancy at that time and clear up any
misunderstandings!] [THEN you wouldn't have to read all of this stuff!]

>I got really busy at the shop so the $200 balance slipped my mind and I
left the unopened box that contained my system on the floor.
- [NOTE: He has been calling me for MONTHS for the system, finally gets
it, gets stiffed on the bill, and THEN ... left it on the floor for a couple
of weeks.]

>Well a couple of weeks later I received a bill in the mail from Conley's
Performance Plus reminding me that I owed the $200.
- [REMEMBER ... He would send us the unquestioned balance?]

>Well I then decided to check out the system that was going to cost me a
total of $2920 and see why it was so much since Conley's website shows the
price at $1995 -
- [$1995 is the price of a standard GN/T system. His was to include all
of the sensors, box, injector harness and stuff.]

>Well the system in the box turned out to be a Fel Pro Sequential system
and not the Bank to Bank I had ordered. - [ALREADY ADDRESSED ABOVE.]

>On top of that it contained an injector harness for a LT1 Camaro instead
of a six-cylinder injector harness. Plus.
- [This is the way FP provides the system. TWO[2] Injector wires will
not be used.]

>none of the accessories were in the box to make it work like the MAP
sensor, Water Temp sensor, Ignition Coils, and TPS sensor. - All of
the sensors and hardware were ordered from FP But were forgotten. We
subsequently reordered them and forwarded them to the customer @ NC.

>Well the system in the box turned out to be a Fel Pro Sequential system
and not the Bank to Bank I had ordered. On top of that it contained an
injector harness for a LT1 Camaro instead of a six-cylinder injector
harness. Plus none of the accessories were in the box to make it work like
the MAP sensor, Water Temp sensor, Ignition Coils, and TPS sensor. When Mr.
Conley quoted me the $2200 for the system he said it would be complete and
ready
to use and I would not have to buy anything additional.
- [EXCEPT COILS] [The client was ALSO informed in the BEGINNING that there
would be some ENGINEERING OPPORTUNITIES with the wiring BUT that between he
and I that we could interface the FP with his package. NOTHING in Hot
Rodding is EVER a simple bolt on.]

>So in early August of 2001 I started calling Conley's Performance Plus
trying to get a hold of Mr. Conley to inform him that the system I got
was completely the wrong system and was also incomplete. After several
weeks of calling and leaving messages without any response I decided to
type Mr. Conley a letter explaining my system was the wrong system and
that I was asked to pay way in excess of what the system is worth and even
what his own website quotes as the selling price. I faxed the letter to
Conley's Performance Plus and the next day Mr. Conley called me back and
told me he was sorry that I had gotten the wrong system and to send it back
to him and he would replace it with the right system and accessories. So I
sent it back to Conley's Performance Plus and waited.
- [We contacted FP and requested a swap of the special sequential system
the customer did not now want for the standard B/B.]

>After 3 weeks and no phone calls I called to check on it. Of course no one
knew what was going on so I had to leave messages for Mr. Conley.
- [His he STILL really calling BEFORE 5:00PM after SIX[6] months?]

>Another week passed and no phone calls from Mr. Conley so I called when
I figured Mr. Conley would be there. [His finally figured out that I am at
the shop after 5:00PM.]

>He told me that they were working on the correct system but it was not
ready yet.
- [Not discussed to date is that I am at the mercy of my supplier. If
they don't make it and ship it - I cannot deliver it. I called my source
AT LEAST once a week to resolve.]

>So in mid September of 2001(almost 7 months after I ordered and paid for
the system) I decided that enough was enough and I had other things I could
use the money for. -
- [THIS IS WHERE I would not like to call anyone a liar BUT ... The
customer called and stated that he was having significant problems with
his home life and needed to SELL EVERYTHING immediately. He even sent
me (TWICE) a list of components and prices. (I can FAX the list to anyone
who might be in the need of some NISSAN specific performance parts.) He
stated that he was in dire straights and needed the money immediately and
that EVEN A RESTOCKING FEE was acceptable!]

>I called and told Mr. Conley that I wanted to get a refund on the cost of
the unit but being in business myself I told him I would pay whatever
restocking fee as long as I could get some kind of refund. Mr. Conley then
said instead of paying a restocking fee he would have the distributor sell
the system and then he would refund me back 100% of my money.
- [NOT EXACTLY but close ............ I stated that he would get 100% of
the price the system sold for. That CPP would not make a cent on the
resale.]

>I agreed but told him that I needed to get the refund as soon as possible.
Mr. Conley said no problem because the distributor sold these systems all
the time. I waited over three weeks and never received a call from Mr.
Conley. So I called Mr. Conley and he said that the distributor had a
buyer and was waiting for payment. So I waited a few more weeks and never
received a call from Mr. Conley. So I called and was told that the system
still was not sold even though it had been over a month and a half since I
had sent it back.
- TRUE, TRUE, TRUE - We sent the system back to the supplier - His initial
sale fell thru. He was still unable to send me my money - I was unable to
sent the customer his.

>It was now late October 2001(8 months since the system was ordered and
paid for) and I still did not have the correct system nor did I have any
money refunded back to me from Conley's. I called Mr. Conley and told him
to just get the system back to me and I would sell it off on Ebay and at
least get some money out of it. He said OK and then here is the
kicker.......He told me that I was going to have to pay for the shipping
back and forth to his distributor.
- [ALMOST TRUE, TRUE, TRUE - We boxed, packaged and shipped the unit to
the supplier, spent ##### long distance phone calls, and tried to take
care of the customer's dire needs (remember the family problems?] I did
not know what the shipping charges were but did not feel was an
unreasonable request BUT .....................never had an opportunity
for discussion. The customer " Well at that point I cam unglued"-bad
words and things transpired. I told the customer that I would call him
when the system came in.

>Well I called again on October 25th just to see if we could work things
out and Mr. Conley hung the phone up on me before I said more then a dozen
words.
- NOTE: The FIRST TEN[10] WORDS OUT OF HIS MOUTH, after I answered "good
afternoon" [after 5:00PM] WAS ... "Are we going to have to settle this in
court?" There was no opportunity for open discussion.

>So I am going to small claims court to file a lawsuit against Conley's
Performance Plus Inc. and unless you want to get treated like I have I
would stay away from this Business. I hope none of you have to go through
what I have had to go through.

- We at CPP have been in business since 1987. We sincerely try to
successfully satisfy each and every customer with hi-quality parts &
services with a personal touch. We are successful most of the time but
OBVIOUSLY we failed here. There are several reasons for this failure.
You can decide who did what to who. We will try to be cognizant of
deficiencies and address any in the future.

- If you are in business for yourself, I am sure you have learned what we
have come to experience during our 14-15 years of business.

You cannot please everyone all of the time.

NOW ........ the e-net provides the capability for ANYONE to broadcast
"their side of the story". Right or Wrong.

HOWEVER ... We hope you enjoyed ... "THE REST OF THE STORY".

Stay tuned for the sequel and ... PLEASE REMEMBER

I get to the shop after 5:00PM.

Have a nice day,
LC

Steve,

Thank you for getting Lawrence Conley's side of the story. It has opened up my eyes to just what I am dealing with and the severity of this case. We all know there are 3 sides to every story...My side, His side, and the truth. I will post the truth *with* facts and proof that Lawrence Conley is flat out lying. I will respond to the statements that Lawrence wrote with my side and some proof of the lies that are being told.

"I recommended a B/B system to the customer in the beginning! -The customer wanted the Sequential.] [We ordered the "special" seq.
unit per his instructions!"

*** This is a flat out lie!!! I ordered the Bank-to-Bank from the start as can be seen here with my PO sent to Conley's Performance Plus dated 02-21-01 along with this cashiers check for $2500 dated 02-22-01. Also when my system finally came in over 5 months later if I had indeed *changed* the order to "the "special" seq.
unit per his instructions" like Lawrence claims why does his own reciept state that I got the Bank-to-Bank system as can be seen here dated 07-10-01?? Lawrence didn't even know I had the Seq. unit until I contacted him about it being the wrong thing.

"[As the customer said ... We did indeed misplaced the check!]"

*** At least he admits to loosing my check ***

"[THE CUSTOMER IS CORRECT! I have maintained a REAL, FULL TIME job for the 14-15 years that CPP has been in business. I NEED TO EAT TOO! The customer was aware of this "BEFORE" he came by, "BEFORE" he ordered and "BEFORE" he sent his money. He was aware that I am available AFTER 5:00PM.]"

*** I was very aware of this and will coment below ***

"[He called BEFORE 5:00PM. I was handling the project personally.]"

*** Actually I called after 5:00 Pm as instructed several times. The problem with this and the reason I never got to talk to Lawrence is beside the full time job he has he also races his Tweaked II car all over the US. So even when I would call after 5:00PM most of the time he was out of town at races. You can see just part of his race schedule on his website at http://www.conleyracing.com/cpptweak.htm and see that he is out of town *ALOT*. Also I came to find out that after 7:00PM they did not answer the phone so I only had a 2 hour window to call and then I had a shoot and miss to when he was at a race.

"[The customer was informed personally that the FP conversion BOX was on back order for parts. He CONTINUALLY stated to me (when he called me after 5:00PM)that HE WAS IN NO HURRY - THAT THE CAR WAS NOT YET CONSTRUCTED!]"

*** This is true for the first 3-4 months I was not in a hurry because I had other things going on but then when it drug out over 5 months it was getting ridiculous ***

"[He called BEFORE 5:00PM. I STILL have my job and was still handling the project personally.]"

*** Sometimes I would call before 5:00PM to see if Lawrence was going to be in or at a race and I would leave messages for Lawrence to call me back but he never would. ***

"[He finally called AFTER 5:00PM.]"

*** Actually I finally caught him at the shop and not at a race. And within the 2 hour window that he answers the phone. ***

[A special conversion (black box) was being constructed by FP. The parts were STILL on BO. HE again stated - "THAT THE CAR WAS NOT YET CONSTRUCTED"!]

*** This is 100% a lie. If anyone has used or seen a Speed Pro system you would know that they are pretty much universal. It is a stand alone computer that with the proper accesoiries will work on any fuel injected car. All you need is a magnetic pick up on the crank, the MAP sensor(which I never got), the TPS sensor(which I never got), the air and water temp sensors(which I never got), a wide band O2 sensor, and an ignition system to send spark to the plugs(which I kinda got but really won't work). There is no magical "black box" needed.

"[He must have been calling BEFORE 5:00PM.]"

*** I have covered the 2 hour window, out of town for races, and messages left but not returned. ***

"[I was TOTALLY UNAWARE of the customers dissatisfaction with the charges and did NOT HEAR ABOUT THAT DISSATISFACTION until he called me at a MUCH LATER date. I was ONLY TWO[2] offices down when he made the payment and picked up his system. I would have been MORE than happy to revisit and discuss any billing discrepancy at that time and clear up any misunderstandings!] [THEN you wouldn't have to read all of this stuff!]"

*** I am a very easy going guy so basically I just took it when the bill was presented. I did not make it an issue until I found out I got the wrong system and after looking at other retailers for the Speed Pro Bank-to-Bank system and seeing I paid almost $900 more then most other places sell the same unit for. I tryed calling about the unit being wrong but ran into Mr. conley not being there because of races and when I would leave messages Mr. Conley would not call me back. I then only heard from Mr. Conley after I resorted to sending a fax on 08-23-01 voicing my concerns with the price and the fact that the unit was the wrong one.

"[NOTE: He has been calling me for MONTHS for the system, finally gets it, gets stiffed on the bill, and THEN ... left it on the floor for a couple of weeks.]"

*** yes *I* called for over 5 months to get updates on the unit. Mr. Conley nor any one from Conley's Performance Plus *ever* called me in those 5+ months to give me updates. *I* always had to call and *I* always had to try to catch Mr. Conley since he handled it personally. Yes I did get busy and left it on the floor after I picked it up because after waiting over 5 months for it what was another couple of weeks. I too own a business and that comes first. ***

"[REMEMBER ... He would send us the unquestioned balance?]"

*** I am not going to send an extra $200 when I got screwed on the price as confirmed by over 3 other Speed Pro retailers. And just FYI I have been told by 2 other Speed pro retailers that they can get me the Bank-to-Bank system in less then 3 weeks time. ****

"[$1995 is the price of a standard GN/T system. His was to include all of the sensors, box, injector harness and stuff.]"

*** LOL....but I sent $2500 and *NEVER* got all the sensors or correct injector harness and stuff. ****

"[This is the way FP provides the system. TWO[2] Injector wires will not be used.]"

**** I read the instructions and have talked to other Retailers of the Speed Pro and they have a harness made for the Buick GNX that is a six wire. That is the harness that would work best on my V-6 motor *NOT* the 8 cylinder LT1 injector harness. ****

"All of the sensors and hardware were ordered from FP But were forgotten. We subsequently reordered them and forwarded them to the customer @ NC."

**** If that is the case where are they??? It is funny to me that I paid over $2700 and Mr. Conley acts like he is doing me a favor by "forwarded them to the customer @ NC." even though I never got them. ****

"[EXCEPT COILS] [The client was ALSO informed in the BEGINNING that there
would be some ENGINEERING OPPORTUNITIES with the wiring BUT that between he and I that we could interface the FP with his package. NOTHING in Hot Rodding is EVER a simple bolt on.]"

**** LOL...I have installed Haltech units on Mitsubishi Eclipses and Hondas. I know how Stand alone DFI systems work. I decided to do the Speed Pro because I thought it would work better for my car and *IF* I would have gotten the right system it would have. ****

"[We contacted FP and requested a swap of the special sequential system the customer did not now want for the standard B/B.]"

*** It has been over 2 months since I sent the system back and I still do not have the Bank-to-Bank system that I originally ordered. I have been told by other Speed Pro Retailers that I can get the Bank-to-Bank system in less then 3 weeks. ****

"[His he STILL really calling BEFORE 5:00PM after SIX[6] months?]"

*** No...after 6 months I am still having to *try* to catch Mr. Conley at the shop and not at a race :-(. And after 6 months even after I leave messages *I* still have to call because I never get any calls back. ***

"[His finally figured out that I am at the shop after 5:00PM.]"

*** I happened to catch him on the best day of Wednesday(when he is not out of town at a race) in the 2 hour window of opportunity. ***

"[Not discussed to date is that I am at the mercy of my supplier. If they don't make it and ship it - I cannot deliver it. I called my source AT LEAST once a week to resolve.]"

**** After 8 months of waiting for the correct system it is a little ridiculas. Plus I have confirmed with other sources that I can get what I want in 3 weeks or less. ***

"[THIS IS WHERE I would not like to call anyone a liar BUT ... The customer called and stated that he was having significant problems with his home life and needed to SELL EVERYTHING immediately. He even sent
me (TWICE) a list of components and prices. (I can FAX the list to anyone who might be in the need of some NISSAN specific performance parts.) He stated that he was in dire straights and needed the money immediately and that EVEN A RESTOCKING FEE was acceptable!]"

*** WOW...right there Mr. Conley tells eveyone that I told him I needed a refund ASAP and I was willing to pay a restocking fee!!! It has been over 2 months now and I have yet to see a dime of my money returned. I used the "home life" story to *try* and get things done quicker but as everyone can see it did not help :-(. ****

"[NOT EXACTLY but close ............ I stated that he would get 100% of the price the system sold for. That CPP would not make a cent on the resale.]"

*** I still don't understand why *I* have to wait for the *wrong* system to be sold to get my money back??? That should be a problem between Conley's Performance Plus and the distributor...*NOT* a probelm with Conley's and the customer. I stated and MR. Conley confirmed above that I was willing to pay a restocking fee and get a refund ASAP. I have still not seen a dime returned to me and now I am going to have to go to court to get it :-(. ****

"TRUE, TRUE, TRUE - We sent the system back to the supplier - His initial sale fell thru. He was still unable to send me my money - I was unable to sent the customer his."

*** Again...why is this my problem??? I paid Conley's Performance Plus for a Speed Pro Bank-to-Bank system that I have never received. That has been over 8 months ago and over 2 months since I sent the *wrong* system back to Conley's. The tracking of the box back to Conley's can be seen at the UPS site (1z4x751x0340227256) and is dated August 31st. ***

"[ALMOST TRUE, TRUE, TRUE - We boxed, packaged and shipped the unit to the supplier, spent ##### long distance phone calls, and tried to take care of the customer's dire needs (remember the family problems?] I did not know what the shipping charges were but did not feel was an
unreasonable request BUT .....................never had an opportunity for discussion. The customer " Well at that point I cam unglued"-bad words and things transpired. I told the customer that I would call him when the system came in."

*** Again why should I accept back the wrong system and pay for the shipping??? Why is this *my* problem??? I think *anyone* would be more then a little upset after waiting well over 8 months for something that still is not right and then being told they would have to pay shipping charges to get back the *wrong* system again just so they could get *any* money back. ***

"NOTE: The FIRST TEN[10] WORDS OUT OF HIS MOUTH, after I answered "good afternoon" [after 5:00PM] WAS ... "Are we going to have to settle this in court?" There was no opportunity for open discussion."

*** After I sat on hold for well over 10 minutes I asked "if we were going to have to settle this in court". Mr. Conley began to yell into the phone about his lawyer etc.. This is also after I sent a Fax earlier in the week explaining that I wanted the correct system or my money back or I would have to file in Small Claims court. I made the call to see if we could settle it without going to court. So yes that was the first thing I asked and never got a chance to talk man to man because Mr. Conley hung up on me. ***

"We at CPP have been in business since 1987. We sincerely try to successfully satisfy each and every customer with hi-quality parts & services with a personal touch. We are successful most of the time but OBVIOUSLY we failed here. There are several reasons for this failure. You can decide who did what to who. We will try to be cognizant of deficiencies and address any in the future."

*** I don't understand this statement. Mr. Conley says that "OBVIOUSLY we failed here" but he is still making me take him to court??? ***

"HOWEVER ... We hope you enjoyed ... "THE REST OF THE STORY"."

*** I hope with what I have posted I have proved that Mr. Conley's side of the story is full of lies. There are several things to think about:

1. *IF* I wanted the Seq system why would I send it back after waiting 6 months for it???

2. *IF* that was the correct system why would I not keep it???

3. *IF* Conley got all the sensors and forwarded them to me why do I not have them???

4. *IF* that system was made with the special "black box" that took over 6 months to get and was the *correct* system why did Conley take it back???

5. Why do I have to wait for the Distibutor to sell the system to get my money back???

6. Why after 2 months of waiting I still don't have the proper system when *other* retailers say they can get what I need in 3 weeks or less???

7. Why did Conley's reciept say that I got a Bank-to-Bank system *IF* I did indeed want the SEQ system???

8. Why did this system cost >$800 more then every other retailer????

Anyway I hope that everyone can see from the *facts* that I posted with the back up proof that I am the one getting screwed :-(.

Sorry if this sounds negative but I have to ask? Are you going to put up or shutup. Either take him to court and let us hear the ruling of the court commisioner, and maybe the next step the Judge. Or quit wasting web space. If you are not a whiner you will take this to the next level.

Hmmmm.... I don't think he's whining, only trying to clear up many assertions that he feels are wrong or are lies, just as LC did. Is this the right forum for this? Perhaps... Frustration is understandable and since there is no resolution at this point it appears that he felt this was his only option left BEFORE going to court. I think his purpose here was clearly stated in the original post - to make others aware of his problems.

I have met LC. He seems a very decent and honorable man so I make no judgement either way. But when someone calls someone else a liar, that "someone else" has GOT to refute the evidence and it appears we've heard both sides. But I will also say this - if CPP has something I need to buy, I would still buy from him.

Another issue here though - I also think that to pay for anything in total prior to getting it is only opening yourself up for the potential for problems. What leverage do you have if you DO have a problem?

Hopefully, this can be resolved without further blood letting.

Lawrence has an excellent reputation for honesty and straightshooting in the business and has always been willing to help anyone, anywhere.

It is hard to believe that such lack of communciation as seems to be apparent between the two versions can happen when two parties are local and can easily meet in the same room.

If the facts are clearcut, then there should be an easy means to redress the disagreement legally.

I am surprised to hear that LC would ever suggest a sequential system as he has repeatedly stated at the Houston Buick Club meetings that he felt them to be a waste of money. I, personally, have a bit of difficulty in understanding the difference as my brain equates bank to bank with batch mode but I ain't the brightest candle in the room sometimes.

Kurt,

Sorry I am just stating my side of the story and informing people as to what I have gone through. The paper work has already been started for the Law suit and I will be sure to inform everyone the outcome.

I don't know how many times I have kicked myself in the a** for paying for the system up front . At the time I had the money available and figured I better pay for it in full and not have it burn a hole in my pocket and not be there when I needed it . I was under the impression that Conley's Performance Plus was an honest and reliable source but after all this has happened I have received a few E-mails from other people that have been done wrong .

kyle,

I did not mean to be the bad dog but I alway hear people throwing the saying around that they will sue and never do. I just feel it cheapen the statement. Sense you have clearly said you are underway. What is the first step in your area in small claims court system? KYLE you now know that if you turn tail and do nothing everyone of these people will laugh you out of every place.
