My Little Honda

Well, it's obvious that this little Honda hasn't been serviced in a long time. The entire motor assembly is Phillips screws-no bolts. About 12 of them were hopelessly stripped. I used my little NAPA screw extractor and it worked flawlessly everytime. Buy one.

Earl, I don't think that would help here. These screws are not only stuck, but very badly stripped. They are completely hogged out. I'm just taking extracting them and replacing them.

I stand by my original statement.

If you're going to work on motorcycles you need one of those tools.

The cool thing about using a hammer is you can "forge" the head back to match the phillips tip, crack the galvanic corrosion loose, and loosen the screw at the same time. The only downside is that you have to swing a therapeutic hammer.

Yes, what Earl is talking about is what you need..... an impact screwdriver. As Earl mentioned, worth it's weight in gold for wrenching on motorcycles.

The screws are readily available at the hardware store. The old screw heads are almost completely reamed out. So extracting and replacing makes sense.
You just drill the recommended size, tap in the extractor, put a wrench on it, and the screw comes right out.

Damn, damn and damn. I spent an hour trying to adjust these new points only to find out that they are the wrong ones and wouldn't close all the way.
