| Went To A Car Show ...... .....At the boneyard. Yep that's right I said there was a car show at the junkyard. Almost a year ago they opened up a new self service salvage yard down on the west side of the airport here in Orlando. Now this place was designed as a self service yard from the get go. And it's not a bad place. A TV and cable in the waiting room. They even have fridges with soft drinks and a freezer with ice cream bars. To bad it's 40 miles from my house. So I only hit it when I really cant find anything close to the house. Oh and it's huge. At least 18 acres of junk. Anyway I'm standing in line to get in and the only white guy working there starts BS'n with me and he says they are going to have a car show starting at noon out in the parking lot. So I'm thinking a bunch of RiceBoys and fart can Hondas. After I grab my stuff I see some cars have already set up so I go to check them out. I didn't stick around for the burn out contest or drifting exhibition. Check out the chromed out 3.8 Buicks in them Hoppers. Oh and check out the gems I found on the other side of the fence. I can't say I've ever heard of a car show at the junk yard but I guess it makes a little sense. A lot more than having one in the parking lot of a grocery store anyway. ![]()

| PS Pump is LC2 only. You could try to build one from a 4 cylinder but you have to swap flow valves. Time and money ahead just getting a reman'd. Basically you have to match the pump to the steering box. The LC2 is the only one used on the recirculating ball gearbox. Everything else is rack and pinion.

| Man thats pretty cool! You have MANY yards to play in with a car show to boot! We have ONE you can Play in but is picked over faster than they arrive! The rest dont let you play & have squat for us anyways. Huge yards you cant go into & they care less about us most of the time. ![]()

| I don't recall who built the building. They started clearing the lot in Jan 2000 and finished it between Dec 2000 and March 01. I'm still staring at a door opening that was screwed up from the get go. The door frame was cut with the hinges on the wrong side. And of course the metal roof has a bizillion leaks in it. It's at the intersection of SR 46 and I-4 on 43 acres. Yeah those lowrider hopper dudes crack me up. If I didn't live so far away I would have brought the GN back just to show them a car that sits low and goes around corners fast. But than I probably would have woke up to an empty garage in the morning. What's funny is the brown turd Cutlass and candy Regal were trailered in. They both have open headers. They don't sound anything like a turbo car with an open pipe. Some times I have to fight them off when I find a Regal on the other side of the fence. Finders keepers or don't bring a knife to a gun fight type of deal with some of them. Some times I pull off crap and hide it over in the Ford section just to piss them off. But they always get the upper hand on me. I have to work days and they don't have a job so they usually beat me to the good stuff. Good thing they don't have a clue what a 4.1 is. ![]()

| Some Corvettes used the same pump as the turbo V6, I don't remember what year off hand.

| Just looked through my photo files, the only Bill Heard we built was in Union City, GA. back in 2001. It was 158,000 SF so it wasn't a small deal. We are now building the worlds largest Lexus dealership. It has 98 service bays, a spa, daycare etc. Its like a freaking vacation destination. What I don't get is why a lexus dealership would need 98 service bays. I thought they were supposed to run forever and all you had to do was put gas in them. ![]() |

| Here's some more wasted bandwidth I took over the weekend at the same place. Okay this one is for all of my Turbo Riviera buddies. You see this white ElDorado drop top? Well it's the holy grail of parts if you can believe it. According to Wiki,ASC(The GNX guys) built 2300 of these Eldo Converts in 1985. My God those are numbers equal to the 20,000 plus black grilled GNs built in 1987! Compared to the 400 Riviera(47 were turbo'd) converts built for Buick anyway. No wonder I've seen a few of them rotting away. There's gotta be some pissed off Pimps out there. Anyway back to the parts list of goodies you can grab off if it. There are 2 cross braces under the engine that only the converts used. And every 4100 E-Body used the 3.15 final drive. Now this particular year and model also used the same torque converter as the 84-85 Hot Air Regal and Riviera and also the L69 MCSS cars. Only the convertible used it. The solid roof used a wimpier stall converter. To bad it's such a PITA to pull them out. And it also used the biggest sway bars ever used on the E-Body. The front is a tree sized 32mm and the rear is an equally massive 26mm. The stockers are usually 28mm on the front and 22-24mm on the back. I've written a few tech articles in the Riviera Club newsletter on how to upgrade to them. Oh and every Cadillac had four wheel disc brakes as standard equipment so that is also a bolt on. There are some tricks like aluminum seat backs and extra reinforcements welded to the floor. Oh not to mention an extra HD welded frame. Here's a couple of pics of a 85 Hot Air T-Type that was at this yard back in January. This was the first SFI Turbo car that I've found in a self service yard. I've seen dozens of carb-turbos in the yards. What was weird is that it was a dark red car with the gray leather 45/45 seats. And get this! Radio Delete! Check out the radio block off plate that was left in the car. Somebody snatched all the goodies from it but as far as I was concerned the block off plate was the best part of the car. It even had its protective film on it. The last pic I took in the parking lot of the LKQ in Daytona Beach. Remember the TruckNutz thread? Hey dood! You have ballz under your chin! Somebody needs to explain to this guy where those go. It aint under the FRONT bumper. I don't know if this guy was trying to mimic the 24" wheel Donks and Boxes or if he just couldn't afford the correct lift kit. I kind of like it anyway. Maybe the Players will start chopping up Trucks and SUVs and leave the Regal and other G-Bodies alone. ![]()

| Thanks for all the info. and the stories. ![]() Went with a Cardone rebuild from Rock Auto, and bought a seal and bearing for the stocker which was about $20 additional. Core charge was $25 I believe so I'll eat that too. Hopefully I can fix the problem and have a spare. ![]() |

| Here's a picture of the bearing, shaft, and retainer on the Rock Auto. Cardone rebuilt pump. No play at all in it, I think my bearing is toast on the stocker as it rotated around in a big arc with the pulley, unless of course the pulley is falling off. ![]() Shouldn't be very hard to fix the stocker either got the seal still waiting on the bearing. ![]() ![]() ![]() You get some accessories to install it as well. ![]() ![]() |
