Post 2001 Camaro SS Auto - what do they run?

I was out in my LX tonight and got into it with a 2001 Camaro SS Automatic. We went from a 25 or so MPH roll.. I just left it in 2nd and didnt bother grabbing for 1. Anyways, we pulled pretty much even throughout my second gear until about 50 MPH, then I started to pull on him a tad, & I smacked it in 3rd at 5200 RPM / 60 MPH and continued to veeeeery slowly creep away and we both backed out around 75 MPH because of where we were doing this... I didn't quite put a car length on him.

I managed to talk to him, and to my surprise he said it was the "325 HP 2001 SS" and was automatic.

I did some stuff to the Stang today [jerked the sway bar off, put on a C&L 73mm MAF & cone filter, bumped timing and stuff.. But my car is still pretty much stock.. w/ stock gears.

What do the Auto LS1 SS Camaros run in the 1/4? 13s? I could see it had an exhaust of some sort on it...

We're sea level here... 12s stock? LIke I say, I could see an aftermarket exhaust.. that or the SS cars come with some sort of better exhaust than the regular Z 28s?

I am sure my LX is deep in the 13s [probably .40s/.50s on street tires] with the little tweaks and gutting of weight.. but not in the 12s yet.. not without slicks anyways.

I expected to lose to him really..

There was one at the local track a couple of weeks ago. It ran mid to low 14's. I think he was a horrible driver and he had street tires. My friend's 15 sec Cougar took him to the 1/8 mile.

My aunt ran a 13.9 in the 1/4 in her 30th aniv, TA according to the G-tech. This is in Indiana. Im not sure about the 99 TA ram air's but I know both the 02 TA and the 02 SS both have 325 horse, or so the sticker says :^|. I'd probably give the SS high 13's low 14's maybe... I guess its possible to get it into the mid 13's stock depending on the driver I would think.

Although not exactly what you are looking for this gives you a reference point. My Bud had a 95 LT1 camaro. PI converter and Cold air system. 13.50s with stock exhaust and street tires, best of 13.30s.
In case you missed it, GM hightech did a track test on a LS1 SS. They came up with 12.90s bone stock with a 5 Speed.

01-02 LS1's are 12 second cars with a good driver.

Joe, is your friends car an auto or 6 speed?

Screwie Louie - looking to see if anyone knows what the '01-'02 325 HP Camaro SS with an automatic trans is capable of running in the 1/4.. stock or basically stock.

My '98 Z28 ( LS1, a4 tranny, 3675lbs with me in it & 2.73 rear end) ran 13.68@100.4 bone stock. With a Whisper lid, free ram air & EGR mods, dronemaster muffler and Nitto DR's it now runs consistent 13.2's@~106 mph.

Doug C - thats about what I was guessing with this guys car... Mid 13s or so. I think had he been 6 speed he would have tuned me pretty good.. But I still expected to lose to him, and didn't, so yee haw!
