It's a Buick!

I decoded the VIN and it is a Buick V6. The VIN is 2S87A ALXXXXX. I have a turbo that I purchased for one of my other "project" cars just sitting in the Garage. May be too big? Not sure yet. In regards to the electrical I have been designing a custom ECU for a Mustang 5.0 from scratch. Anyway I am looking forward to having some fun with the car!

Thanks Again for all of the input. I am sure I will have some more ignorant questions in the near future.

Thumbs up

Frambo,

Check out this link on this site:

1981 Turbo "GN" Trans Am going under the knife

Also check out the thread starters web site, it is a pretty good site!! Good luck with your car and as you already know, yes the 3.8 in your car is a Buick engine. It is a bit different than the GN engines in our car, but it is still a Buick engine.

Yep 3.8 Buick for your car. GM didn't put a Chevy V-6 in the Pontiac 2nd gen F-Body. You know if it was me I'd keep it all original. Carb turbos aint all that much faster.(well they are but you can see my point). At one time a straight six 1st gen wasn't worth anything either. Now they fetch the same cash as a Z-28 in the same condition. One of the guys in my shop has a 67 bench seat weeny model.

Okay I have to ask. If it only has 33K on it why is it in crappy shape? You sure it aint flipped around at least one time? I know you say it has a spun bearing. Sounds to cheap for what you say it is anyway.

I wanted to get pierced. So I bought Prince Albert in a can. Looks like this is going to take some time.
