| Saw it at the nyc autoshow. From the front it looks like a 3 series, from the rear it looks like a 3 series that was hit by a nyc bus IMO, rear profile of the car had a wierd bodyline/shape, stubby like the old school 318ti. That being said i would love to own one I drove my buddy's 335i coupe and that car is a missle, could only imagine what that driveline could/should do in a lighter package.

| BMW North America Rather have that than the current BS GM is feeding us. Still cheaper than a GTO. Probably quicker and more fun to drive too. ![]() EDIT: Sorry, they call it the G8 now?

Okay Mr.Nattypants. Your Bummer..Bimmer..Beemer cant even kick out the numbers to even compare it to a G8. Under powered and gets worse gas mileage. What am I missing here? Other than the G8 has an extra set of doors. Just wait for the Camaro. There's probably a video on YouTube showing the G8 turning a quicker laptime at Nurbering(sp) too. Heck there's probably a video out there of a Cobalt SS kicking out a faster lap than the 1 Series. Okay lets compare mangos to mangos. I see BMW has to stuff a V-8 between the strut towers of the 09 M3 just to keep up with the General. BMWs are over rated IMO. Hmmm? I'll have to dig up some printed material on where I beat a M3 CSM factory Lightweight driven by a National Champion on the track with my GN. That's not really a fair comparison. Because it's the driver and not the car. Or is it? ![]()

I was impressed with the G8 ... great handling, nice power, nice fit and finish. A nice touring sedan with low end grunt and nice cruising manners. The 1 series ... small and pretty noisy (I was surprised) and even with the sport package (i.e. better seats) was still the typical BMW "flat and hard" seating surface. The one I drove was quick, handled nicely, and rode pretty stiffly. It was also $40,450 (sport package, premium package). I'm waiting to see what the G8 GXP brings (should be the LS3 and a 6 speed manual!) ... BTW, for reference I've owned both basic platforms ... had a 2003 BMW 325i sport package w/5 speed (wife's car), a 2003.5 BMW M3 w/6 speed (mine) and still own my 2005 GTO 6 speed manual). I sold the M3 for the GTO (and still have the GTO) and the wife traded the 3 series for a V50 AWD T5 Volvo (which we still have as well). The BMWs were nice, but living with them day in and day out, they lost their appeal.
