Post Would you buy or sell a TR without a motor and trans.?

I was wondering if anyone has sold or purchased a TR without a motor and transmission. I have purchased TR’s in the past without a motor and trans. but I have a few spare motors and transmissions to rebuild and use.

I am thinking about selling my rare yellow T and would like to retain the motor and transmission to use in my silver T. This is a healthy mid to low 10 sec. motor and trans. combo with a lot of time and money invested in this set up. This is why I don’t want to let it go with the car. I am not in a position to rebuild a stock motor and trans. to replace the motor I wish to keep. Just wondering what your thoughts and comments are on this topic? http://www.efi-street.com/IMAGES/Nat...es/image39.htm
Most people think of a junker when they see without motor and transmission. If you copy and paste the above link you will see that this T is in very good condition and not a junker.

Thanks,
CT

if I had a rust bucket with a good drive train, I might buy one if the price was right....otherwise, I might be more likely to sell one... LOL

Not a nice way to talk about my car.

Racer guy at Mease's shop yester day called it a beater.

At least it has an interior unlike his 9.5 sec. Camaro.

I would buy a nicely optioned roller. Got a decent motor and stuff.

I don't think that's a factory color is it?

Don't look like creme beige or whatever they called it.....

There are people out there looking for rollers, obviously not as many as those looking for a complete car.

If the price was right and the car was close by I would, but then again I have a spare complete drivetrain. It is a lot of work and money to get a roller made into a driver, so that is why a lot of people stay away from roller cars.

Just my opinion,

Guys I failed to mention that I have the original motor and transmission for this yellow T. I did not build the original motor that came out of this car. This car belonged to a customer and I had the opportunity to save it a few years ago. I rebuilt the original motor for him but he killed the motor with only 7,500 miles on it. The motor is .030 over at this time and will hone .010 to make .040 over. The heads are machined for the big intake valves. They will also need exhaust seats and a valve job. The transmission will need to be rebuilt also.

I was under the impression that the vin numbers were not on the engines and transmissions. That is why I did not mention the original motor and trans. in the above post. I don’t have the time or funds to rebuild the original motor and trans. at this time. I like the idea of having an extra motor and trans. around. That is why I was considering selling the car without the motor and trans..

I have not thought about a price at this time. If you are interested in the car e-mail me about the details and pics. . I can take some pics. of the car if someone can host them.

I have been going to BG and other TR events for over fourteen years and have seen only two others this color. This is the factory color.

Thanks,
CT

That is an original factory color called Creme Beige. Probably the rarest color of them all. That and Light Sage Metallic.
