| wanting to create my own website I am wanting to crate my own website. This idea sounded simple until I googled the topic and was overwhelmed by what's out there. Can any of you recommend a good website that is straight forward to follow... Is this something a computer newbie can do? I really don't know too much about how all this works. Thanks for any ![]() -Andrew ![]()

You can create a bad website as a computer newbie, but to make a nice looking functional website, you either have to know computer graphics and website design and layout or hire a pro. I'm a graphic artist/web designer and there can be a lot to it. Go daddy has some templates that you can use if you have them host your site, and you could have a site up and running in an hour or two. Chances are that it will look like hundreds of other sites up on the net. You can also barter with a pro and get a good site without paying anything. I did a site for a boat charter/fishing business and got a few days worth of fishing out of it. Both of us were happy. I'm not a super guru for back-end database driven websites, I'm more of a designer and I charge no less than $75 an hour and a basic 5 page site is probably going to take 10+ hours at minimum, and if the client wants to help it will probably take 20 hours and be more along the lines of $100/hr. If you want something basic for very cheap check out Go Daddy and all the tools for beginners. It costs about $5 to register the name and about $30 a year to have it hosted. |
