KISS movie review by Sean, Tommy & myself

Hi All,

Well the reviews are in and needless to say it was a smashing success of a movie far outdoing anything Led Zep ever hoped to accomplish with their "Our bad songs remains the same". If KISS is not nominated for an Oscar for best musical/rockumentary then there is something seriously wrong with the academy.

We got to the theatre early as the line stretched around the building or at least that is my recollection of the scene man.

While there in parking lot we saw this kicka$$ retro mid 70's Firebird pull up with chrome exhaust tips and saw both Wayne and Garth get out, so I said to Sean I think I know what movie they are going to see and it was nice of them to pullout their retro Firebird to complete the nights motif.

We had our Fandango purchased tickets already in hand the three of us scooted right in like the JCC Rock Stars that we are.

Show kicked off right at 8pm with about a 15 minute appearance by Gene and Paul explaining what we were about to see and promoting KISSOLOGY a 2 DVD set due out 10/31 a 6 hour never before seen KISS trilology with two more volumes coming out in 2007. They also explained the whole meaning of KISS and how they always believed they were going to be bigger than life and how they believed in their dreams (a good lesson for all of us and especially the kids out there).

Gene said when they pointed to the crowd, they always pointed to this highest row in the biggest stadium cause "that's where we were going, straight to the top" and that one of the things KISS is about besides the music is "moving mountains" again IMO another great life lesson we can all take to heart.

After the intro it was 90 minutes of KISS Alive 1 and of course having listened to the album 1000 times I knew all the words like "How many people here.........like to get high" or "there's only one drink that's gonna bring you up when you are feeling down........what's that......COLD GIN........I can't hear you.......COLD GIN".

Sean, Tommy and I had a great time knowing full well that poor Artie Putz could not attend due to technical difficulties. However the theatre did say they would be showing Led Zep's movie next week in one of their smaller 5 row theaters and they were hoping for a sellout, so maybe Artie can attend next week.

Sean has pics to post so everyone can get the feel as if they were there along side Sean, Tommy X and myself.......enjoy

>>> Hey Joe,

It is the continued use of your rolling eyeball emoticon and hatred of KISS that has caused your ouster from the JCC.

Have a good time at Menudo-fest this weekend.

Oh noo, see I am using the roll eyes emoticon to show praise, as the eyes are looking up to you. I have no hatred of KISS just bad music, is it my fault that KISS falls under that category? the answer is no my good friend

I did like the movie Detroit Rock City.. Hope that makes you feel better

well my evening started out quite well. I arrived at the Outback Steak house at about 6pm> I sat down at the bar and ordered a large Fosters and the traditional Bloomin Onion. To my suprise the food Channel was on and Rich's girlfriend was doing her show. I hit the tri fecta..beer, Rachael Ray and KISS all in one night..with the Rich bonus...she did back to back shows so I had to releive the internal pressures a few times....needless to say Rich shook my left hand as the right one was still sticky. Rich was waiting for my in the parking lot when this firechicken showed up,,White exhaust w/chrome tips hangin down..if it would of had West Virginia or Texas plates it would have been perfect. I just about wet myself in the parking lot....after all I am English and had 2 beers so i had to go... when we approached the ticket booth I made the comment that we are going to have to wait forever to get our tickets...which is when Rich reached into his pocket and produced 3 tickets...he had bought them ahead of time...smart guy that Rich...we were escorted inside alond with the rest of the KISS army and waited patiently for the theater could become available, Rich called Ed Baker and Artie to let them know we had arrived as they were on their way to Orlando Florida..they were in NC if any one wanted to know. We get into the theater and Butt Head and Beavis from the firechicken were in the back ripping it up...Now I do not own any KISS albums or even have 1 KISS song on my MP3...well that has changed...After the Introduction with Gene and Paul ( I feel I can call them by thier 1st names now) and the KICK A$$ CONCERT I wiil have to purchase KISS alive vol 1 as per Rich's suggestion. I have to say one thing I do wonder about Pauls sexual lifestyle...Gene is an animal and have a new respect for his performance Art. Ace can really make the guitar scream and Peter did this Drum solo for about 20 mins which really blew me away....I think the best part was being there with Rich and Tommy...of course Rich was singing word for word and new the tracks by heart,,I actually think I saw a tear in his eye as KISS said goodnight...He did mention something about camping out to be first in line at Best Buy for when the KISS dvd set comes out. Yes that Rich has a sentimental side too..A Good time was had by all and we left the Theater knowing that the world is now a better place.....

Great movie, for those of you who missed it, you really missed it. Watching the movie of the concert brought me back to the days of my youth. The first album i ever bought with my own allowance was Kiss Double Platinum, I wore the needle out on my little one speaker record player, it was the 70's afterall people. For authenticity reasons i think, the movie stated that the footage and sound of the movie was not altered in anyway and was left exactly the way it was recorded in 1976. Really got the feeling of how things were back in 1976....and that one speaker record player

What was really inspiring was the footage from Cadillac Michigan and the Cadillac High School football team. The football team was stuck in last place, discouraged and disgraced, the team's coach decided that in an effort to motivate his team he'd play Kiss music in the locker room and rename all the plays using the names of Kiss songs. Wouldn't ya know, the team went from worst to first! Truely inspiring. The town of Cadillac invited Kiss to come to town and they threw them a parade and gave them a key to the city. Kiss then played a concert in the high school's gym and the next morning the town officials had breakfast with the band, all the town officials including the mayor were fully decked out in Kiss makeup. Nothing like seeing a 60yr old guy in Kiss face paint and a polyester 3 piece suit...it was the 70's afterall people.

So to try and draw on this inspirational event, I was blasting Kiss music on my ipod on the way to work today to try and inspire myself from the duldrums of my daily life sitting in my cubicle. No specific album, just all the Kiss songs i've ever downloaded, it is 2006 afterall people....damn the man! I must say, I'm feeling a little inspired..oh and it doesnt hurt that its friday either I even did the Gene Simmons point to the top when I walked into the office this morning, because that's where i'm going, straight to the top. And i noticed what seems to be a water stain in the drop ceiling, need to call maintenance.

All in all it was a great movie and i'm looking foward to Kissology DVD set Vol. 1, vol's 2 and 3 coming in 2007 and knowing the marketing genius of Gene Simmons, vol's 4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10 will be soon to follow

Tommy,

Great post and so very inspirational, to those that can't or don't or won't see it (aka Joe National) KISS isn't really about the music it is about encouraging us to be the very best we can be each and everyday. Whether you're a rock star or cubicle jockey there is a message there and that is to ALWAYS believe in your dreams and that dreams do come true.

After seeing the KISS movie last night and hearing the magical words of Gene and Paul I am committed to making myself a better person and leaving this world a better place in some small way. I am not sure what that is but I may start doing some volunteer work or build a house for habitat for humanity based solely on the words of KISS.

Tommy, Sean I am also proposing right now that "The Point" to the back row of the largest stadium be the JCC mantra and signoff of all interviews.
