| I just got Verizon FIOS from Optimum and so far its a tossup. Last time I had Verizon the service was down more than it was up, but that was DSL and a 640k line. I have a 20M line now, but havent seen those speeds. On my laptop (wireless) I get ~600k/sec (5meg) and on the desktop (ethernet) I get 2000k/sec (15ish meg). Up is about 5mg on both machines. The FIOS TV I must admit is impressive and I was a hard sell, HD content is crisper than cable was, and Verizon is in bed with DirecTV so now I have HDnet (excellent channel!), and the multiroom DVR is sweet (record shows on the DVR and watch from any box in the house) We'll see how the internet does over time. I had optimum for about 10 years now and if it was down a week total that was a long time. I'm just hoping I didnt make a mistake switching. Time will tell.
