My MOST favorite McGavin role was as a Camp Pendleton USMC DI.

During Vietnam, it was not uncommon for the USMC to pluck draftees out at the Induction Center as needed.

Jan-Michael Vincent had the role of the "long-haired hippy pot-smokin' acid-droppin' peacenik", that became McGavin's nemesis during training.

VERY authentic in all regards, excellent performances by both actors.

30 years before R. Lee Ermey did the same in "FULL-METAL JACKET", Darren McGavin nailed his role as a Marine DI perfectly.
