What Would it take to turn a 84-87 Monte Carlo SS into and Monte Carlo T-type?

I'm thinking about putting a 231 in a monte Carlo SS. What challenges will I face?

Off the top of my head....

Gas Tank (From Carb to EFI)
Fuel Rails
Wiring
More Wiring
Even more wiring
I think you'd need to replace the passenger side wheel well or do some surgery for the DP, but maybe not.

Typically when someone asks this question it's how hard would it be to convert an NA Regal to Turbo, but the same theory holds true. There's so many little odds and ends with the brackets and wiring that it would be cheaper just to buy a TR. Of course you're starting with a different body style....

That being said I know it's been done and I'm sure it'll turn out well. Try a search in the Hybrids section.

anyway, gotta re run the fuel lines to the other side of the car
new fuel tank,
run wires for the pump
wiring harnneses
i think new motor mounts
and i'd go with a new rear.

and if its a 84 you need a diffrent trans.

I think that will be a great project. I like the montes look but it came with a 305 boat anchor and to put a TR drivetrain will be bad ass!

As stated, a donor car is the way to go. You'll need everything from the radiator to the diff cover, and of course the gas tank.
Everything can be made to work, including the factory Monte tach and gauges. Casper's is a good source for swap harnesses.

No surgery is needed for the downpipe, even a 3" unit.

Relocating the frame mounts
Fuel lines
Fuel tank pick up.
Wiring harness and accessories such ECM, all needed relays; etc.

While it is a very straight forward swap it will be somewhat time consuming. However, you do have one distinct advantage on your side and that is that they are both "G-bodies" as such they are cousins and other than sheet metal quite similar. Everything that is in the Turbo Buicks should swap over without much headache. They may be a few mounting point issues but nothing that can't be easily solved. Check in the Hybrid section as there are some very talented folks there and even a few that have done G-body swaps such as Malibu's and El-Caminos already. I would suggest getting together with someone who has a Turbo Buick and the two of you picking over each car in person and comparing notes as to the differences related to this swap. Two heads are most always better than one. Hope this helps.

I'm sorry to all the monteeee carlooooow fans. Its like calling a mustang 11 a pinto. WHY WHY WHY?

How about a Pontiac Grand Prix Aero Cp. 2+2 instead of that monteee carlooow.

Just build a nice SBC or better yet a BBC and put in that thing!
