DHL and the missing big screen plasma TV.

A customer shows up the other day to pick up his car. While he is there he gets a phone call from his father. The father ordered a big screen plasma TV and when it gets to the house via DHL he unpacks it only to find a pallet with several bricks taped inside of it but NO TV. He is flabergasted to say the least. He just paid something like $5500.00 for this TV and there is the box, all the paper work and even the packing material but no TV, only a pallet and some bricks. He calls the shipper DHL, they tell him it must have been that way when they got it. He then calls the folks he bought it from. They tell him to look for a certain type of band clip on the box as they use a very specific kind. Needless to say they are NOT the type the company describes. So that would lead one to believe that if it were somone at the dealer they would be smart enough to use the correct band clips. He then calls DHL back and the corporate run around begins. Needless to say he has no big screen plasma TV and they are stating that it could take months to resolve the issue and settle the claim. He has now canceled the payment via his credit card and is now letting the dealer take it up with DHL. It really sucks when you can't even order new stuff anymore without someone wanting to rip you off.

Cool

There use to be a scam in the city where they would sell VCRs, cameras, video cameras and have newspaper and a brick in the box. The box was shrink wrap to show it was brand new. These scams was to played out on the tourist that would visit the city. To get rid of this scam they used plain clothes Police Officers to solict these scam artist.

Jim, lost prevention will probably take on a case with your situation. The person will get greedy and finally get caught.

This happens all the time and it's usually from someone returning an item at a retail store like Circuit City, Best Buy ect. Person purchases TV, computer, whatever with cash, returns it to the store with bricks in the box and gets a refund. Next person that buys it finds bricks in the box.
