| What the hell is going on with GM!!?? ...And Ford as well... Their stocks are tanking, their credit ratings are one step away from junk status, Ford has cut their stock dividend, GM is about to do the same thing, and they are losing market share. Despite the fact the 'big three' were given a billion dollars of our taxpower monet, only Ford has come to the market with a hybrid car, and that's with technology licensed from Toyota! Dammit! Didn't they learn their lesson when the compact cars came in and dominated the markes a few years back? Gm killed the Camaro, so I thought "gee there must be something really big comming down the road to take it's place!" Did that happen? NOOOO! Now Ford is kicking their ass with the Mustang. Right idea to build fan loyalty starting with guys right out of, or in, High School. Come to think of it what has GM came out with that has any kind of appeal? The Hummer? Forget it! That pig is on it's way out!! The new Corvette? Yeah it's one hell of a great sporting machine, but where is the car I want? (or can afford). The Caddy CTXV or whatever it's called, is not a replacement for the Camaro because it is too expensive! TTA89 had it right when he said he was amazed that people were willing to buy something out of brand loyality, rather than spending their money wisely. From now on I will not make fun of people buying 'other than GM', because the General has lost touch with it's existing buyer base, and will never get the first time buyer (performance buyer) back until they give us some bang for the buck! They are going to go the same way as Oldsmobile. Catering to the well-to-do Baby Boomer generation is not going to last. What hey need is another Grand National. This time a bit more affordable, and with better gas mileage... I'm sorry for the rant, but this has been getting under my skin for the last few days so now I'm going to get a few beers and try not to visit the Ford Dealer on the way home. ![]()

| I hear you, Timmy! GM does have to get their sh!t togehter. Although, I see the stock going down some more which will create a good buying opportunity. There use to be an old saying, "What's good for America is good for GM!" How times change! ![]() |

| GM sucks, they just make crappy looking cars. I think the new Mustang looks awesome, but GM lags behind making their muscle car, the GTO look like a 90s Acura intergra:

| What?? GN's get great gas mileage considering the size (seats 5 with a real trunk) & the HP they produce! GM may suck right now, probably will for the next 10 years but dont tell me a performance car needs more than 20+ MPG!! Thats one thing the GN does have is decent gas mileage! You need a Honda Hybrid or whoever makes those things? Yuck!! I know you probably had a bad day so go say sorry to your GN NOW!! LOL! ![]()

Sheesh bring back the GTO?? All the hype and then come to find out it looks like, like, nothing!! Daammit would it have killed them to twist the sheet metal into something that looks a bit agressive?? Is there a huge market out there for 'sleeper' cars? It's like a day without sunshine, a tit without a nipple! I mean what was the point of resurecting the GTO name and then having it blend into the ordinary undistinctive POS it ended up as. Oh wait maybe they didn't want the new GTO to steel the thunder away from the other muscle car in it's class, that being the ummm, ummm.... That made no sense to me...sigh... Hey forzfed I hear you! The stock is tanking sooo bad because there are no car model(s) in the works that gives any promise of reversing the downward sales. Investors need to see something that would make them believe things are going to change. This is not a time to buy. Not even...IMO One thing I do know is that if they trot out a Grand National, and screw it up like the GTO I am going to hop a plane with a bottle of tequilla, fly to Dearborn, and kick me some tennis playing, martinni drinking, out of touch, sh!t-headed executive Butt! ![]()

| I will tell everyone what is wrong with GM. All of these so called Americans buying these freakin imports. Yeah GM has made some sorry calls as of late with the F-Bodies and such, but that is not the main problem. Just take a look at all the freakin Toyotas on the road the next time you are out, it is rediculous! Those Japs have everyone brainwashed that their cars are the best thing since sliced bread. Working in the automotive industry for many years, I know that Toyotas break just like any other car on the road, and when they do, bend over and grab your ankles! If people don't wake up and stop buying these imported pieces of s@#t there will be no more GM, Ford, or Chrysler. That is the bottom line. People can say what they wish about them being made in the US and all, but where does the profit go? That's right, right back overseas. The bad parts is they will not even consider anything American made because they consider it junk. Why should we continue to let them import that crap to the US? The government should tax anything coming into the US so highly that these idiots could not afford to buy them when the get to the lot. As far as the new GTO goes, I love the car, I don't see what everyone has against it. Everyone bitches and gripes for GM to make a RWD Muscle Car, and when they do, everyone bitches and gripes and they sit on the lot. Can you blame them for not making anymore? That is whats wrong with GM and the rest of the American car makers. ![]()

![]() OMG! don't say another 10 years, I will snap long before that! 2 more years, that's my deadline! After that the plane gets boarded, and those responsible will 'reap the wirlwind'. No I don't want a Prius, unless I can drive it over, and spin the tires on the butt of the GTO design guy... And actually I'm having a good day because the people responsible for this still walk the earth blissfully un-aware of the pain I wish to inflict on their dumb-asses... ![]()

| Keep the Rubber Side Down | Maybe the Cobalt will save them? It seems like a decent car, from what the mags have been writting... The GTO is awesome in these areas.. Sweet Motor, Rear Wheel Drive, 2 Door Sedan; too bad it's as exiting as watching wine age to look at...

Bottom line is value. If I took a JD Powers and a Consumer Digest fact sheet - OK? - and covered up the Names of the Vehicles, leaving you with nothing to judge but value, you yourself would pick import vehicles. Maybe it's the labor costs or dedication, but the forien dudes put out a superior product. We suck! The American worker... Can't be fired, he's overpaid, it takes 2 guys to do the same job that 1 Korean does, and while the fat lazy American sits at home after work sipping his merlot and farting left-over porterhouse steak into his lazy boy, Chin Bing, who is happy to have a fish head in his rice soup squats in his straw hut grateful to have a job that keeps his family from starvation. Face it, the union protects people, and nobody would get fired if a bolt was left loose here or there. The war is over, they got us again. ![]()

Why in god's name would anyone use those to pick a car? Analyze what they are, and how they gather their "statistics" and come to your own conclusions. ![]() But you're right, it not the cars that are the problem, it's the profit per car. GM and Ford sell a helluva lot of vehicles. Toyota built a factory in West Virginia to assemble engines. It's a non-union plant (as many if not most Toyota plants are) and they probably pay less than half what GM pays at its union plants (but still a good wage for around here). It doesn't take a genius to figure out which company can be more successful. GM and Ford will still be around...but they may not have any factories in this country.

![]() My buddy works for GM (middle-managment in one of the plants up here...) and laughed when he told me that Toyota could buy GM 10 times over and still have enough money left over to buy the Cleveland Browns (shameless Simpsons reference...). At least I WANT a 300C... just can't afford it yet. I think the new Mustang is very sexy. And send those extra GTOs up here, I'll take one in a heart beat. Maybe you are all too fussy and lazy. Somebody needs to over pay me so that I can buy nice things. Oh wait, I am Canadian and that will never happen. ![]()

| The General has been around for a long time and as no one is impervious to the forces of time it is clear that the General has become SENILE. So give the old fella a break and next time you think of The General take the time to remember how things used to be when he was young and ambitious. He has accomplished more in his life than other imports companies have combined. Now they are taking cheap shots at the old man and that just ain't right. So as the General gets ready to settle down into his final resting place you shouldn't be sad....just take the time to reflect on his hay-day and remember his life and all the glory that it had and all the joy he has brought to you over the years. Remember all things come to an end.....after all thats what a journey is - a trip to a destination. Once we reach the destination the journey is over, the mission is complete, and the fat lady sings her finest song. And the General has taken us on one hell of a trip (sorry for saying hell) with him but alas he is approaching his destination and we must continue on.
